got to admit, I really did love those mtns, BUT... the trail was specified as moderate, and I have to say...moderate here on the east coast is much more difficult then that trail.

I know I may get some comments for that, but I feel that this is true.”

what I am trying to say is that I learned that you really can't compare our trails with yours...at least not this one. I am really curious how my July trip will feel. I don't doubt that there some real butt kickers out there.”

Phil... it was more of a dayhike trip then backpacking...but we had LOTS of fun and saw many things.

MtnSteve: what u mean the weather is going crazy AGAIN? Is it that bad? I asked someone at Whitneys Portal if crampons or iceaxe are needed to climb up whitney and she looked at me like I am nuts and her answer was "no".
I hope it's doable in July.

“Buck, it wasn't A LOT of snow, but it was deep on some spots, and also very wet. If you know where u are going it's fine...we didn't know the area, so we had a hard time following the trail around the lakes.

after we saw Snowdude and SnowNymph we started to look for all kinds of TTers, but honestly I don't know if I would've recognized anyone else. Prolly not.
