“the closest Int Airport would be Lehigh Valley. If you fly into Harrisburg, I could pick you up.” EarthNsky

Harrisburg is possible ENS. The schedule from New Orleans is kinda rough though. I would be looking at some weird hours and long flight times. Thanks for offering and I hope I get to make it to see you guys.

bateauxdriver, are you a pilot? If so, there's a little airport 2 minutes up the road in Forks... I could get you on my way into Easton to fetch Mapleleaf.”
spindlette

I'm not a pilot Spindlette, but some day I will be. What time are you guys going to be in the area? LeeHigh in Allentown looks promising. There are a lot of flights at vaious times. My other option would be to fly to philly and rent a car. I can get a car for $22 bucks a day. Can anyone really fit in a Geo Metro? What is Philly traffic like on a Friday evening from the airport? I'm thinking moving parking lot.

leaving the city of brotherly traffic at rush hour can be rough, but doable. Best thing to do is go south on 95 and then take the blue route (476) around the city to 76, then get on 422 west towards Reading. Once you're on 422 you should be good.

You can probably rent a chevy aveo for $17.99 from enterprise, just tell them you have an insurance claim and that you have to pay it out of pocket.

bateauxdriver ~ check Philly schedules if that is easier...I could swing down that way and get you. That way, you don't have to worry about renting a car and then trying to find your way around after that.

I think you could fit in the Geo Metro, but you might have to strap your gear to the roof.

bateauxdriver, I am picking up Maple between 7-7:30pm in Easton,,

Allentown is in route to the campground, or I can come get you whenever before that. My hours on Friday are completely flexable. Although if it's before 5 you will be subjected to an encounter with my darling offspring.

Philly would be my first choice. Lilmountaingirl, how far out of your way is that? What time would be best? This flight has potential.

bateauxdriver...
It makes no difference to me, I won't be working at that time so I can be there whenever you need to be picked up. Similarly, I can get you back to the airport anytime as well.

The 5:15 arrival is fine, by the time you get off the plane, find me and we leave...the traffic should be dwindling slightly.

All is good ~ book 'em Dano! ;)

I can get an earlier flight arrival time if it helps with traffic.

I will glady pay you for your time and expenses. Can we go shopping on the way? Since this is a drinking and eating fest, I'll need a few things. Also if anyone has some pots(10-12 quart dutch oven or heavy aluminum) I can borrow, I will fill them with food for us to dine. Would you like gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, dirty rice, more BBQ or a combination there of? Anybody alergic to seafood? This is car type camping right? In the morning I serve pancakes, bacon and eggs. Lilmountaingirl, are you bringing a cooler? Hopefully a big one, we will need liabations. Dang! Too bad I gotta fly, I'd bring my 12 volt blender so we could wip up fruity vacation drinks, umbrella and all! Hell I'd bring my generator and kegulator as well. Lilmountaingirl, I hope you drive a pick-up truck or a moving van. You should see the size of my pack! I might just use my old army duffel bag instead or in addition to. I love packing and planning for a trip as much as the trip itself. Woooo! Hoooo!

Now I'm off to HomeDepot for a few hours. I've got to build some new stairs, build a deck and cut a hole in the wall for a door today.

I'm gonna book this flight!

New Orleans, LA (MSY) to
Philadelphia, PA (PHL)

Great flight times! We'll have plenty of time to stop at the store to pick up food & beverages. I can bring a big cooler as well. You and I will probably beat everyone to the campground...which means...we get an early start. ;)

Ummm...you don't need to pay me for my time and expenses! That N'Awlins cooking you speak of will suffice quite nicely! ;) I have a couple of bottles of hot sauce from there that I tote around on car camping trips.

Maybe I should rent a truck...LOL

Did you guys (from the other side) settle on camp sites? That looks like a big camp ground. I'll try and get one close to the food, I mean beer, no I mean people.

LMG is choosing a site big enough for the whole bunch of us, no need to get one of your own, unless you really want to. This place charges by the tent, so everybodies rooming up in a few huge tents for the weekend.

So far there are two, possibly 3 tents lined up..
spindlette
8:40:00 PM
6/23/05

Speaking of tent sites...
Here's the deal ~ they charge PER tent PER night which sucks... $22 per tent. SO...there are at least three people from the other side bringing big ass tents for 5-6 people.

I spoke with them 2 days ago and they have sites that will fit up to 18 tents. I am going to call tomorrow and reserve a site for Friday and Saturday night...for 4-5 tents.

That said, I will let them know that we may have to add another tent once the time gets closer. There's a thread on the other side about the Logistics that I try to keep updated with who is coming and what's going on.

In regards to food ~ we were thinking potluck style so everyone is bringing something for the group. BYOB (though I'm bringing some Patron to share with the class).

So...I was just going to reserve a huge site for all of us. That okay with everyone?
lilmountaingirl
8:44:30 PM
6/23/05

Sounds good. I'll be bringing my wife, and if unable to find a babysitter, my daughter too. If that happens I'll get a site of our own. Jus let me know what site #'s so I can get one close enough.

BTW - lilmountaingirl, ever have the Cabo-Wabo ? I think it blows away patron.
CrazyPace

Alright...
$22 per night is a bit steep... (We paid less than that for an entire campsite for 2 nights up in New York)

Anyone looking for a roommate? :)

Campsite Reserved
Alright y'all...I reserved the campsite for Friday and Saturday night. The site map is here: http://www.bluerockscampground.com/sitemap.htm

Site #87, way over on the right hand side of the map, near the Pinnacle Trail. I told her probably 4 tents on Friday and 6 on Saturday; the site she gave holds 8 tents in case we need more space and is off on it's own. :)

There is a thread on BP.com http://forums.backpacker.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1161826 that I've been trying to keep updated with headcount and logistics. I'll try to remember to post over here as well!

Anyway ~ site is reserved so it's all good. I can email the reservation # to anyone that may be getting there before me on Friday.

ok...

me and my friend alexandra will be staying over camping on sat-sun.... is there any room for us? i don't feel like digging through the whole thread. i'm just gonna bring my 2 person backpacking tent, so we won't take up a lot of space! also, how much will we owe someone?
ScorchFire
11:52:32 AM
7/26/05

ScorchFire, you and Alexandra could find some tent space in one of the family sized tents. This campground charges $22 per tent per night. The idea is to bring several larger tents and split costs.

I'm sharing with no_granola..I'm sure he won't mind sharing a tent with 3 (or more) women.

There's always room for more. ;)

Y2, can someone pick you up on the way? What is the mechanic replacing?
spindlette
12:22:30 PM
7/26/05

I don't know who is coming from DC area, so who knows, it might be ready, but they can't tell me.

They've replaced the rear quarter panel but ordered the wrong bumper without towbar - stupid #&%!$wits - someone did a hit and run on my brand new car when it was parked!
Y2
12:24:32 PM
7/26/05

That sucks! I hope the damage was only to the exterior?

I don't think there's anyone coming from the DC area, bummer. Lilmountaingirl was inviting Bearmagnet,,,but I haven't heard yay or nay on him, and she's been away for a couple weeks.

Here's hoping they get your car done by the weekend, even if you can't make it up. Being car-less is a pain.
