Relay for Life

“anybody doing the relay for life this summer? the howard county chapter is this weekend. my intent is to walk 57 laps around the track in honor of my dad who lived to be 57. the luminary ceremony is at 9pm. i have never been to a relay for life thingy, but im guessing the ceremony will be an emotional time for many.”

“you have no idea. when they darken the stadium and all that is lit are the lumanarias, it is a chilling thing. Good deal on the 57 laps.”

“I'll be all over the one held near where I reside. I work at a very small company (8 people total) and last year we raised over 3500.

I throw out a sleeping bag and camp out at the field, filling in any gaps of our walkers.
A very cool thing to do.”

57 laps comes to 14 miles. this point last year i was doing 20 miles with a 32 pound pack up and down hills. piece o cake”

“My employer is a National Team Sponsor this year and I was a team captain here in Greeley CO.

Our event was two weeks ago - i havn't seen the total for our local, but my company has raised in excess of 100,000 nationwide. All of our plants are participating and some of them have put up some really outstanding numbers.

This is pretty close to home for me as it is for you Scott. I've been involved more years than not over the last several years.”

“We had ours about a month ago....this was my 2nd year doing the event....

What an experience the soul undergoes when the lights go down and the track is completely circled with luminaries....it's hard to hold back a tear....

“thats what they are, not lumanaries. This is an honor roll thing (honoraria) not to be confused with what upscale neighborhoods put out for christmas. That why they are lumanarias.”
