NASA NPG 3600.1View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 23 of 23 messages posted.
“Ah, this wonderful world we live in. NASA's engineers actually took the time to define an "ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE" specification. For just $31 I can purchase NASA NPG 3600.1, which apparently tells the boys and girls when they can take off work, and when NASA will have to dock their pay. Of course, so did the FAA. (FAA 3600.4, entitled "ABSENCE AND LEAVE (INCLUDES CHANGES 1-22)." In case you are wondering, I happened to find this while looking for the GMN3600 specification, which is entitled "Generic Supplier Analysis/Development/Validation Process Tasks and Deliverables for All Product and Commodities" which is a GM RESTRICTED/CONFIDENTIAL STANDARD. last edited: 6/17/05 1:38:32 PM” 1:38:05 PM 6/17/05 “You need more time off from work. Do me a favor. If I inexplicably start posting rants about cross browser DOM compatability on TT remind me that it's time for a day off. Thanks man!” 1:42:33 PM 6/17/05 “ ”1:44:05 PM 6/17/05 “lmbo. lmbo. lmbo. I thought it was weird.. right here in the middle of all these highly technical specifications: GM6273M for example which covers the testing of convoluted or ribbed elastomeric molded ducts intended for use on automotive engine air induction systems. This standard describes equipment and procedures capable of rank ordering and/or optimizing materials of component design performance under test conditions simulating the intended application as closely as practical. And while I'm researching that??.. NASA's time and attendance policy. You know what I mean? By the way.. On the subject of cross browser DOM compatability -- IE and Mozilla share a similar DOM structure, but Netscape differs in relation to how it interprates it's child nodes. For example look at the following code. IE interoperates the following code theadrow = e.srcElement.parentElement; whereas Netscape and Mozilla use the following code theadrow = e.target.parentNode; Although Netscape supports document.getElementById('id') .. it does NOT support any of the other element code. You must use node manipulation instead For example colCount = theadrow.children.length; brings back the length of an array of all the children in IE but you would have to use the following code in Netscape and Mozilla is colCount = theadrow.cells.length;. Did you happen to notice that also, Mike? last edited: 6/17/05 1:52:02 PM” 1:48:24 PM 6/17/05 “I know that IE won't let me use pseudoclasses and in mozilla fonts are small. DHTML is a nightmare because of the DOM.” 1:55:42 PM 6/17/05 “I agree, Michael. It's the bane of Web developers everywhere - conflicting standards, browser incompatibilities, and code that changes every time a new browser version hits the Web. But fear not - I read recently where charging in on a white steed comes a heroic knight, clad in the attire of the new W3C DOM and armed with the tools to make this nightmare end forever. You should check it out! http://www.devshed.com/c/a/DHTML/Rough-Guide-To-The-DOM-part-1 last edited: 6/17/05 2:02:20 PM” 1:58:31 PM 6/17/05 OK “You want I should talk in Ada or would you like to hear some Jovial. For you experts I imagine SAP would be appropiate.” 2:00:01 PM 6/17/05 “Yep, and it'll also bring about world peace. I won't hold my breath.” 2:03:18 PM 6/17/05 “Ah yes, ADA -- the US DoD general purpose language. Good choice. Which revision of Jovial (Airforce International Algebraic Language or Jules Own Version of the International Algorithmic Language) did you prefer, J2, J3, J72, X.2 or just plain vanilla? As for SAP (SHARE Assembly Program) I didn't realize you were so fluent in the geek language. ;) I didn't realize you were a walking tower of babel, Paul!.. last edited: 6/17/05 2:08:16 PM” 2:05:47 PM 6/17/05 Yep, and it'll also bring about world peace -- HPM 2:11:53 PM 6/17/05 “Here ya go Mike. LMBO and after a short 6.5 year marriage with Lockheed/Martin Aero .......... I DIVORCED THEM !!” 2:35:26 PM 6/17/05 Speaking of NASA.... “http://www.thespacereview.com/article/224/1 Speaking of NASA, we have a big batch of real estate sitting in the sky just waiting to be divvied up by humanity and settled. Although I do have to admit -- this guy looks like he needs a TIME AND ATTENDANCE policy. ![]() last edited: 6/17/05 2:44:58 PM” 2:41:37 PM 6/17/05 Dividing up the spoils.. “But back to this big batch of real estate sitting in the sky just waiting to be divvied up by humanity and settled -- this article is a hoot also.. http://www.thespacereview.com/article/386/1 Space piracy and criminal law will have to evolve from the every-country-for-itself and nothing-bad-will-happen attitudes memorialized in the Outer Space Treaty. If two stateless people have a fight in spacesuits on the Moon, where can they get their criminal case heard?” 2:48:33 PM 6/17/05 speaking of NASA - - - - “I just spoke with my ex a few minutes ago.... she works at Cape Canaveral... budget anaylist for several of the military commands down there......... she HATES her job and wants to retire tomorrow !!! She says NASA can just kiss her sweet patooty in 2 years !!! LMBO I'm just fortunate to be homeless and gainfully unemployed. :o) last edited: 6/17/05 3:05:58 PM” 2:59:25 PM 6/17/05 “SAP:- Symbolic Assembly Programming Language "history: The oldest non-machine language, allowing for a more human readable method of writing programs than writing in binary bit patterns (or even hexadecimal patterns)."” 3:17:28 PM 6/17/05 “Paul: Truthfully? I was thinking of SAP DB -- The FREE Enterprise Open Source Database.” 3:25:56 PM 6/17/05 “I go back a long way. Still trying to get "hep."” 3:30:56 PM 6/17/05 but... “will it fit in a nalgene? sheesh...you guys sure are smart.” 4:47:53 PM 6/17/05 and... “I thought it was simply about being in the great outdoors..what was I thinking...I'm kinda glad I don't understand all this mumbo jumbo...leaves me more time to contemplate the simple things in life, like sunsets and clouds.” 4:49:16 PM 6/17/05 “Understanding mumbo jumbo merely increases my appreciation of contemplating the simple things in life, like sunsets and clouds.” 5:29:59 PM 6/17/05 “There was this old Cuban guy, a fisherman, laying in his hammock after a day of fishing, watching his grandson play in the sand. Along comes this businessman, approaches the old Cuban fisherman. He says, you are a good fisherman!! I want to set you up in business, have you a fleet of boats, go out for months and months at a time, catch tons and tons of fish. Have your own factories, make millions and millions of dollars. Work long, hard hours, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year..... then you can retire.... to a small village, lay in your hammock all day and watch your grandchildren play in the sand.......................” 6:27:52 PM 6/17/05 Towndawg “In Gary Coleman's voice..."What you talking bout, Willis?!!!!" All I know is that when I dropped one of the plastic air duct assemblies at work the other day, it really bounced, but didn't break.” 5:52:35 PM 6/19/05
