Father's Day 2005

“Went out to dinner tonight since most of the family will be gone this weekend. They surprised me for Father's Day with a Garmin etrex Vista C!!!

I'm probably the only guy here who ever feels this way, but there are times I wonder why I bother getting out of bed in the morning to go be miserable at work and then come home to get a blast o' crap from the ol'lady. Sometimes the kids are my only inspiration. They are so positive and hopeful about life and have wide open futures with untold opportunity. Their enthusiasm makes me want to do all kinds of inconvenient and uncomfortable things that take away time and resources I'd otherwise spend enjoying myself.

Now the kids are both in High School and I know they will be gone before I realize. I'll make it to a lot more group trips then. But for now it's so beautiful to see the "fruit of my loins" turn into real people. When I feel my life is worthless, I know it is worth the joy and promise of those two young lives I'm partly responsible for.”

“A friend of mine and my son "Playsnfire" went on a backpacking fishing trip a few weeks ago. He took some nice photos of the trip. He had a picture of my son with his 1st trout on a flyrod. He also had a nice photo of me with a trout. He merged the two photos together in Photoshop and did a great job. He sent this to my wife who framed it and gave it to me for fathers day. That is a trip that I will never forget and I now have this great photo to remind me all the time.”
