Beautiful wish I was still able to make it out there this year. Maybe next year.” 6:34:53 AM 6/20/05 “I like them all. I bet you guys had fun together.” 9:55:08 AM 6/20/05 “Those meadows are so lush and green! Love the color of the wild rose. They are all beautiful. Thanks for sharing WW.........did you see any kitty cats? ( Bob Cats )” 10:54:52 AM 6/20/05 “Boy Michael, that didn't take long! As I told you I got home and headed straight to the couch. That hike to Roaring River Falls did me in, but I'm glad I made it. I fell asleep on the couch about 8 and went to bed by 10. Thanks guys for helping me out yesterday, it meant a lot. I had a great time! I'll look at mine today after work and post a few.” 11:31:26 AM 6/20/05 “Here's a few of mine I put together over lunch. ![]() ![]() ![]() ”3:41:52 PM 6/20/05 “James, Nice pictures...even from a Nikon! ;) Nice shots too Michael! :)” 4:07:26 PM 6/20/05 “C'mon Hikin Mike... where's yours? ;-) Wow, what a collection !! Let's see some more. I love that first one Michael.... very cool” 5:21:30 PM 6/20/05 “Hodgeman, I was too tired yesterday to sort them out and I'm at work right now. It will be a few hours... :)” 5:38:09 PM 6/20/05 “Tek, I like the waterfall and the sun/shade/water one. I remember your post that you are interested in why people take a photograph. So tell us why.” 9:51:08 PM 6/20/05 “Awesome photos gang! Spectacular. Thanks for sharing.” 10:21:31 PM 6/20/05 “Finally got to the pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm proud of this one! The longest hike that I've done in over a year. Hiked up to Roaring River Falls and back, almost 1/2 mile round trip. Probably took close to 20-30 minutes to do...but I made it... ”12:09:54 AM 6/21/05 “Man, Hiker Dude. That took guts. Under similar circumstances I can only wish to muster half the heart you've shown there. I saw your strain and bloodshot eyes under your sunglasses. And I heard your message loud and clear. "Take nothing for granted." I got it. Thanks for putting your photos together. I mean it. I know what it took for you to do that.” 1:02:18 AM 6/21/05 “Great photos guys! It was a fun way to spend Fathers Day...glad our families decided to send us to the hills for a Fathers Day treat 8) Hang in there Mike....you're going to whip this thing. I agree with James you show lots of heart pushing on like you do inspite of the pain and discomfort. I too heard your message loud and clear..."Take Nothing for Granted" ![]() last edited: 6/21/05 1:24:58 AM” 1:23:09 AM 6/21/05 “wannabp, I guess it's about wanting to believe that the eyes are a window to a person's soul. I'd rather believe that photos are a reflection of what's going on inside. Because, afterall, that's most meaningful and lasting. There's lots of beauty and life in these images we post that make their way through our minds. But it's not just about quality, it's about content. There's a passion for technique, but then there's a passion for the wilderness, those high places, and all that comes with them. See the difference? That sometimes shows up in some of our photos. And the latter is what pulls me in, persuades me that the scene is where I want to be, or how I want to feel. Ever want to know the odor of a flower when looking at an image of it? Ever want to sense how the trout feels in the hands of a guy at the shore of an alpine Sierra lake? I just want to be inspired. And I hope in turn some of the experiences I share inspire family and friends as well.” 1:36:18 AM 6/21/05 Soul Food “Few more... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ”1:45:15 AM 6/21/05 “Thanks Michael. I just wish my shot of the Roaring River Falls turned out better. There's a lot of processing in that shot. James, I didn't know about the picture you took with my camera. I guess I should post it too!” 12:26:24 PM 6/21/05 “beautiful pictures-” 3:21:55 PM 6/21/05 “Beautiful pictures, guys! I'm so excited for when I'll be down there in July. Yay! Lots of pretty sites to see.” 4:04:13 PM 6/21/05 “WONDERFUL PICS! Hip hip hurray! The wilderness ROCKS!” 4:34:13 PM 6/21/05 “Tek, I do know what you mean. It's much more than technique, but technique helps a lot. Hikin Mike, "take nothing for granted" is an excellent mantra. A very dear friend just got diagnosed with cancer - a brain tumor. Pretty much from one day to the next, her world - and the worlds of all of us who love her - changed. What was the usual work-a-day world is now neuro ICU, radiation, MRIs and will soon be chemo. But her heart and soul are intact, so I'm grateful for that. Yours, too, I think :-)” 9:45:12 PM 6/21/05 “ ![]() Kings River” 10:37:45 PM 6/21/05 “ ”12:15:05 AM 6/23/05 “ ”1:45:36 AM 6/23/05 “Beautiful! All of them!” 3:56:43 AM 6/23/05 happy belated father's day! “techdude, I agree. It's what catches a persons eye that makes them individual too. A lot of times we miss so much beauty because we don't take the time to really look around us. So I think photography brings that to those of us who don't take that time. I think the pictures are there especially for them to enjoy because we the photographers have pictures ingrained in our memories. beautiful photos guys! hikin mike, I give you a lot of credit. You must truly love the outdoors to endure the pain of seeing it. I'll put you in my prayers.” 5:04:17 AM 6/23/05 “Thanks hikerchic! I'm trying not to let this thing take over my life. Photography is helping to fill the void of backpacking. It's amazing what you can photograph from the window of a car (or truck)!” 3:42:27 PM 6/23/05 “Great work guys! Heck thats not work..8). Good thoughts to your friend and all of you left standing on the side for her Wannabp.” 7:15:05 PM 6/23/05 “Thanks, Jene.” 10:05:13 PM 6/23/05 “Back in town the 29th through the 4th. SeKi Beckons. Thinking of exploring Sequoia a bit then this time. Maybe more of Kings Canyon. Saw lots of trailheads last weekend. But I'd like to get some of those photos of the lions and tigers and bears. 0.o Up for another run, or a one/two day overnighter? Thinking of getting tek jr. out there farther as well.” 1:20:26 AM 6/24/05 “Would love to...but I'm going to be at Lodgepole on the 3rd and Exter city Park on the 4th trying to sell some photographs. The city of Exeter puts on a free fireworks show if you want to take the kiddos.” 7:23:45 PM 6/24/05 “Tek, the HST trip starts July 1st. You could tag along for the first few miles or just come by the car camp and say 'hello' if you're around.” 11:18:02 PM 6/24/05
