Poor Equipment
I do believe that some of the excitement about Formula 1 racing in Indy is the fact that there is short straight with a high banked curve followed by a really long straight. The cars were able to reach very high speeds before running through the infield road course. in fact, the cars would be already very fast by the time they get to the high banked curve.

Tires in a few cars were not able to handle the high banked curve. In practice, Ralph - the German brother of the other guy with the same last name, crashed after a blow out due to the friction on his Michelins. Many arguements were made about what should be done. During the parade lap and just before the first lap was to begin, all of the 14 Michelin cars pull out. This left 6 Bridgestone Firestone cars to run the race.
Now that is a reversal in roles. Firestone continues to race due to tires which don't blow out.

Thank you F1A for understanding that you don't want to get bogged down in an American court.

Hope, if there is a next year, the teams will understand what equipment is needed and plan acordingly. I say.
