“Last night I went to the Moosejaw website in order to get the address for the Chicago store. It wasn't on there, but it did say to drop them an email for info. So I did just asking for the Chicago store address.

Here is the reply I received this morning. ROTFLMAO!!!!

Okay okay, really that is the address is to medievil times. Sorry I just thought it might be funny if you went there instead of our store. the REIs are in Oakbrook Terrace and Niles as Tmac pointed out.

There used to be a number of stores called Ehrwyon or something like that. One was in Chicago. Suddenly they went out of business. Don't know what happened to them. Is that what you are thinking of?”

“Lincoln Park used to be gear heaven in Chicago. There was Erewhon and an EMS that used to be in Chicago on North Avenue (I thought it was and REI but I looked and I was mistaken. Erewhon recently re-opened in part of the space that the EMS used to be in. They still have a couple of other locations in the Chicago vacinity as well, but it seems there are no EMS's.”

Product: Grivel G10 New Classic Crampon Package (Fall 2005)

The Bottom Line: The Grivel G10 New Classics are worth every penny for icy conditions. Easy to use and very durable!
Comments: Just prior to a recent trip to the Adirondacks, a friend and I stopped into Moosejaw for a quick bite to eat, only to realize it was not a Canadian restaurant. Nevertheless, we checked out the store while our stomachs rumbled. I was very impressed at the wide array of gear, but I was especially impressed at the way the two male sales clerks went out of their way to help the hot hiker babe who entered the store with me. Talk about customer service! They made very useful gear suggestions although for some reason they kept suggesting she try on t-shirts that were way too small. Anyway, I was looking at the crampons when one of the associates recommended the Grivel G10 New Classics with Antibot. He seemed very informed and even went so far as to look up the item online and allow me to purchase at a cheaper price. He even asked for the phone number of my hiker babe so he could make further gear suggestions. What a great guy! Once in the mountains, I put on the crampons after the first guy down the trail slipped and fell within 15 feet of the car. My Grivels were a Godsend! Not only did they get me up and down the icy hills, they took a brutal pounding on the exposed rock in some areas to the point of sparks flying! I inspected the Grivels after the trip and found no dents or bending at all, just a little exposed shiny metal on a few of the points. They held up perfectly to some very rough treatment and performed flawlessly on the ice. Big thanks to the guys at Moosejaw for the insight and recommendation!
