anybody use jewel weed before?

i've heard before that it's good for poison ivy. never really tried it though.

now i'm reading from a few different sources that it's great for nearly every skin condition under the sun, from acne to heat rash.

anyone have any experience with it?

good stuff sacco, grew up using it. Ever gotten into stinging nettles? Jewel weed usually grows near by. Miracle cure for that. I've used it on poison ivy, oak and lots of other stuff. You can just break a fresh stock and squeeze the ointment out.

We used to collect baskets of the stuff and bring it home and boil it down. Then put the stuff in a small bottle to take places and seasons where you can't find the jewel weed fresh.

that's what i've read john.
it's nice to hear it from a personal source though.

ya, plenty of nettles around here too.

another thing i've read is that you can freeze the juice and then rub the ice cubes on rashes.

I've used the juice from the stem to relieve the itch from a bad case of poison ivy or something similar. I found a lot of it growing by the Tricorner Knob Shelter in GSMNP. I talked to some people who used to boil it in water and then store the liquid for use when their grandchildren came to visit. The children were always getting into poison ivy or such.

I used it once to alleviate the itching from countless michigan mosquito bites. not too shabby. I think it might have even kept them at bay for a time (or maybe I was too numb to notice them chewing my flesh)
