Re: the Century Plant “All morning, I have been getting this gawdawful smell.... aroma, if you will, of dead animal, rotting flesh. Mowed the yard this morning, kept getting a "whif" of this awful rotting smell. Came inside to do computer work ... back window overlooks the backyard... smell still there. Did the search... it reminded me of that big orange mushroom when I was in GA and MAN did that thing ever STINK!! Then... FINALLY !!! Tracked it down to this Century plant... big long flowering stalk ready to bloom.... YUCK !! Does it ever STINK !!!! Having a little knowledge of it already, I know it is only going to get worse. I called the landlady about topping it off... NO WAY she says !!! That was her mothers (now deceased) plant and it hasn't bloomed in 5 years, which is the norm for this plant. So I guess I'll just put up with it. I'll post some photos when it blooms out as they are quite spectacular in full bloom. It's just a shame they have to STINK so bad !!!! I think that after it blooms out, I'll dig it up and give it to HER for HER yard !!!!! What to do - - - What to do ????” 3:08:15 PM 6/23/05 “Does it look like this? 3:09:47 PM 6/23/05 “hey where is that webcam that had that last year? i was thinking about that over the weekend.” 3:11:19 PM 6/23/05 “LOL.... nooooooooooooo not like THAT !! LOL It is just your average, run of the mill Century plant. I saw that one on the news..... but, I can only imagine this one smells just a bad !! Man OH Man does it SMELL !!!! spit-spit-spit gag-gag-gag yuck-yuck-yuck more like this one ![]() I'll post pics when it blooms out... if I don't KILL IT FIRST !!! last edited: 6/23/05 3:26:34 PM” 3:17:17 PM 6/23/05 “hey i have one but it does not smell maybe its YOU” 3:29:52 PM 6/23/05 “The stankin'est thing I ever encountered was a dead ass whale on a beach on Vancouver Island. We were camping about a mile up the beach and just had to go take a look. We could smell it about a half mile away as the wind shifted. It was about thirty feet long and well along in it's rotting. Picture a thirty foot stick of butter melting.” 3:33:23 PM 6/23/05 3:36:20 PM 6/23/05
