I drove up to Tioga Pass on Friday to check out the snow and take some pictures. Tuolumne Meadows was completely bare, just lots of water. I didn't stay until sunset, so there aren't any really "cool" shots, but here's a few to give you an idea of the snow...or lack of.

Was the store open? I am wanting to phone them about our JMT resupply.

Incredible. I like the one with the ice on the water. You have a great eye.

Looking great, Maestro!

That's a lot of snow for this time of year. Even if it melts away in short order, the run off is going to be raging for a while.

Few more of these, and I'm thinking the Sierra begins to go glacial again. ;)

Hikin':
Excellent shots! Makes me want to head there!! I really like the one of the stream (your first on display).

Really appreciate the review. I plan on doing a 2nd, maybe a 3rd. Tuolumne Meadows, Hetch-Hetchy.

Best Regards,

I am sure you have heard these questions before but here goes anyway.
1. Do you use digital or film, and if digital, what type/megapixels?
2. Did you go to school to learn to take those great pics, or is that just a natural talent that you have?
Awesome photos, makes we want out of the office right now!

Thanks Tahoe! Those are digital pictures taken with my Canon Digital Rebel (~6.3mp).

No, I didn't go to school for photography. I'm really just learning photography. The credit goes to God for creating all that really cool scenery...all I did was point the camera and shoot!

Madeintahoe,
You can see Mt. Conness on the 4th picture I posted. Still looks like a lot of snow, I'd wait until August.

I was finally able to find the info on the NPS site, they are going to open the campground on 7/8. Looks like we will have to daytrip it from mammoth.

I was planning on taking the hikers' shuttle from the Valley to Olmsted Point so I could hike to the Valley from there. The Hikers' Shuttle isn't running yet though. I was told that it may be running in one to two weeks.
