"A colossal earthquake that caused damage from South Carolina to Washington D.C. and temporarily reversed the course of the Mississippi River nearly two centuries ago could be repeated within the next 50 years, scientists said today."

Predictions.
I recall a few years back when a seismologist with some real chops predicted an exact date when an 8.0 or higher quake was going to hit New Madrid. Boy, was he WRONG!

That's WRONG! W-R-O-N-G. Wrong. He was wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Man, he was just...plain...WRONG!

You can't predict that stuff. Not even on a scale of "fifty years". Yeah. Right.

We all know a huge quake will likely hit that area again. Oh...well...someday.

Beyond that...who knows?

A strong, stronger than any quake in recorded history, could hit anywhere in the world at any time but I would bet anyone here any amount they would like that it will not happen here or where you are tomorrow!

Yeah, here in SE Minnesota they build stuff above the 100-year flood predicted levels. Hmmm... we've had three 100-year floods in the past two years. Go figure....

Lizs, I just put up an album with pics of some flooding we had this past winter. When the water receded it left gigantic ice slabs clinging to the trees. An amazing sight! It really made a mess of some homes and property---the flooding was bad enough but then to have it feeze on top of that was something else.
