Ya know what show still fascinates me too this day from pbs? The ones where they show how things are made. They go into factories and you get to see how stuff like soap and toothpaste are made. It’s really interesting.

Try watching Dumbo while getting high. The scene where he inadvertantly gets drunk is like an acid trip. (not that I would know what that's like)

All the bits that can't go into sausage and can't be made into glue, go into potted meat.

Yum, yum!

The first interview I had coming out of undergraduate school was at a meat processing company. They took me to the kill floor and explained every executive in the company started there in some capacity.

I went over to the trough were the "remains" were going down what looked like a garbage disposal.

I said, what do you do with the scraps? Dog Food?

The said with a very straight face...."Potted Meat".

I didn't take the job.

Grem are you thinking of "Treasure Island"?

My childhood shows were pretty much the same as everyone else's except I wasn't allowed to watch Popeye or Flinstones (had to sneak over to the neighbor kids' for those shows).

But what about Brady Bunch, Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team and the Waltons and Little House? I can remember vividly laying on the scarlet shag carpeting in front of the console TV with my brother watching all those shows while mom and dad sat on the mustard yellow, cream and red sofa eatting real popcorn with real butter and drinking real coke out of a glass bottles. Man, I miss pop out of glass bottles.

We had black and white TV and only three channels so I saw a lot of the same rocks and sticks that Sarge did (and we were thankful too) but I do remember The Brady Bunch and Planet of the Apes on television, as well as Captain Kangaroo and Land of the Lost. We'd also occasionally get a medley of Mr MaGoo cartoons after the afternoon movie. (Remember his politically incorrect Asian housekeeper, Charlie? Always calling him "Missuh MaGloo.")
Only movie I remember seeing at the theater was 101 Dalmations.

I think the first tv show I remember watching was Romper Room. Then in kindergarten, every day after school I got to watch Bozo's Circus. I even got to attend the show once. After Bozo was nap time.

The first movie I saw in the theater was Benjii. That damn dog never stopped running! The first time I got to go to a movie with an adult chaperone was ..... hmmmmm, I can't remember the name. It's on the tip of my tongue. Help me out here. It's not been mentioned yet, but it came out around the time of Herbie. Something with "gang" in the title? Was Ben Knotts in it? I can't remember exactly, but as soon as someone says the title, I'll know it. There was lots of slapstick humor.

Now this is starting to bug me.

I remember that one and The Shaggy D.A. The only other movie I saw at the theater was Moby Dick and we were all shocked (but felt really old and cool) because at the end of the movie the captain said the word "damn" before he went under, LOL. (sheltered life)
