I can see it now,
"Dude, what's up with your cooler? I keep getting zapped every time I try to grab a beer."

Talked to the Mfr...
takes 8 anodes, 1.5 volts each, they are the sacrificial elements in a Galvonic Cell.

29.95 for a set to replace the ones that come with the system at purchase, max 100 hrs per set.

Uses Salt water, not gas...Ocean Kayakers would have a large source of power...LOL.

Seems the Navy Seals have bought a bunch of them.....I'm trying to find a POC in the Navy to talk to.....

100 hours per set?

WTF? 29 bucks for tepid cooling by saltwater or 2 bucks for super chilled beer via good old ice

uhm, let me think........

Is this even a question?

#&%!$ing thing looks like a goddamn cooler, Sergeant Major.

Ok, so its 29 bucks for 100 hours of juice. If you are in the backcountry what are you going to power up? One of those Igloo plug in coolers?

LMFAO.

My 2 cents worth
100 hours at 40 amp hours at 12 volts, that works out to about 48 kilowatt hours. That would cost me about $4.32 from Pacificorp. Free from a photovoltaic cell. (not taking into account the cost of the equipment of course) I think it would be much more cost effective to take a deep cycle 12 volt lead acid battery with you. About the same size, more power, renewable without sacrificing a $30 set of anodes.

True...
but what generates the power the battery stores?..add the cost of the generator, fuel to run it, and the weight...yada yada....look, I'm not saying this is the shiznit yo?, just saying the idea is cool...

Try this fer instance...you are on a sailing vessel, and instead of using a battery/solar panel, you use anodes and the surrounding salt water to create the power needed...

As long as the boat doesn't sink from having a cargo hold full of anodes, it would be a pretty good idea ST.

I'd argue the point ...but that would cut into your beer time Chili...LOL
