“Photos from my website are being published!

Last week I was cleaning out my “Junk e-mail” and found one titled “Climbing Mt Whitney – need photos” from June 3rd. I replied back, and they were still interested in using 2 photos! I went in to my archives and found the hi-res images and put them on a disk to drop off in Bishop this weekend. Thursday I got another e-mail asking for 5 more! I found them and added them to the disk.

On the way home, I stopped by to drop them off and sign usage agreement forms. The office was closed, but an envelope with the paperwork was attached to the door. Inside was the forms, and a check for 8 photos! A draft copy was enclosed, so I sent the final photo via e-mail.

The book will be coming out this fall ( http://www.spotteddogpress.com/whitney.htm ). SnowDude took 2 photos, Calhiker took one, and Bishophiker took one so they will get credit (and $$) for those photos.

This all happened so quick! Just had to share this!”

wanderer, they only wanted photos from the Mountaineer's Route. In the original e-mail there was a great photo of Calhiker on the last stretch of Mt Muir. I was above, and there was a lot of exposure below. But it wasn't the MR, so they didn't use it. She found more photos after, and now we're up to 8 total!

ww, I forgot about that! I'll keep that in mind! Would be nice to write off my trips!

hc, yeah, we got paid for it! I just want to get my name out there right now. So do I use my real name or Snow Nymph? The draft had both. Snow Nymph is known around here, but I'll probably go with my real name.

stratusloop, I couldn't take credit for the pics of me. Bishophiker has taken classes and is a great photographer, and I find myself following him around to see what he's seeing. Calhiker has taught me a lot too. Even SnowDude got in on this one!

“about deleting e-mails . . . I didn't delete. We have a new Spam Blocker that automatically puts spam in a separate folder. I just got a new computer a month ago, so my e-mail is a little different. I noticed there was a lot of unread emails in the "Junk Folder" so I looked. That's when I noticed the "Climbing Mt Whitney - need photos".

So I'll be checking that folder more often!”

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of hiking w Snowy... I remember the first time we met, (I forget how many years ago?!)... we're hiking up a trail from the Lake Tahoe area, I had been on that same trail a # of times so was just hiking along... SNOWY, though, stopped here, stopped there, had everyone else stop for group photo's... HER photo's show me stuff I've never seen before on those SAME TRIPS!

Bottom Line is THIS LADY can see a good photo while the rest of us (me) are hiking right on by!

I admire that very unique capability you have to see that "picture" the rest of us know is there, but just hike on past! I hope it makes you some $$ - you deserve it!”

My photos have been published in a book the last several years - however, not in a book anyone would likely pick up and read - it's a book of financial reports published by the state.
