We actually walked across the sand bar to the island during low tide... :-) There were mussels everywhere!

Portland Head Light resides in Cape Elizabeth which is the city right next to South Portland, that's where I grew up. I'd ride my bike out to PHL and beyond like out to Crescent Beach(one of the best beaches in Maine) all the time, it's a great ride.”

“Gak! It never fails. Whenever I come back from Maine we're in the midst of a heat wave. From nights in the upper 40s with the heat on in the cottage to nights when the low barely gets under 80.

'Course, my last two days it was sweltering in the Portland/Cape Neddick area. But it dropped back down quickly enough.”
