High Sierra Hyjinks - Ideas Needed
Backpacking Gurus,

I am looking for a 3-4 day hike in the Sierras of California (possibly around the Yosemite or Ansel Adams Wilderness) where my buddies and I can hike 4-8 miles each day, camp at an alpine lake in the evening, and do some trout fishing. Any suggestions, information on fishing, permits, crowds, terrain, wildlife, testy rangers, etc. is greatly appreciated. You shall be rewarded with good karma and a link to the photos and trip report from our weekend adventure which is planned in August. I am quite experienced but am taking two rookies - so keep that in mind.

Thanks,

BirdShooter

Off the top of my head, I'd say do the Northern Yosemite Loop. Great views and terrific fishing.

Bring or rent bearproof canisters, whether they're required or not (required in Yosemite, recommended elsewhere). I see from your profile that y'all are from Jaw-ja - they may not need 'em as much back there, but they will give you both peace of mind and something to sit on, as well as keep the bears healthy.

Thanks for the tips. I have the Bear Can and will take it per your advice. It does make a nice seat. Would you do the Ansel Adams Wilderness over Yosemite? Is there less red tape?
