Would anyone care to join me? The scenery is great, the company will be great, the food will be great, and... if you're in to fishing... I hear there's lots of trout in Clicks and the Little Kern River! :)

I just might be able to.....
join you. I have that Sunday and Monday off. Expected back at work on Tues at 3pm.
How long do you think the drive to the TH would be from say Los Angeles?

Hmmm... The trailhead is about 1 hour from Springville or 1.5 hours from Hwy 65 at Ducor.

Trip Report
Went on an overnighter with Sequoia to the above mentioned meadow. 5 miles one way. It was just what I needed. The scenery was gorgeous. The company was patient. She hikes much faster than I.

We went in expecting to meet up with a Backcountry Horsemen training group at the meadow. Sure enough they were there. What I thought was the coolest was they opened the cabin, and we were able to get our water from a faucet. They had an interesting campfire session that night. I actually stayed up till 9:30pm, unusual for me while backpacking. The conversation was how do you feel, think, believe about the wilderness in general, the law or how it impacts your life.

We got up early and hit the trail by 7:30am and made it to the truck by 12:30pm. What can I say, I move very slow uphill.

What I learned:
There are no escalators in the wilderness. (Darn)
I really really like my Big Agnes Insulated Air core. :)
I for once did not bring enough food. Need to balance this a bit better.
I like the instant Nescafe Cafe con leche. (coffee with milk)
Do not get bug spray into eye. (It burns all day)
Don't forget my hiking poles. (I left them in the truck at Sequoia's house)
Tiger lilies smell good. Yes I actually stopped to smell them. ;)
