This month has FINALLY arrived! I have been waiting for July 2005 for over 14 months. Don't know the exact day yet, but at some point at the end of this month Jon will finally be able to come home from his deployment to Afhanistan. That day cannot come soon enough for me.

After he gets home and after he demobilizes, we are jumping in the truck and heading west for a 2-week road trip through the Dakotas, Wyoming, Utah, Idah, and Montana. YEE HAW!! And yes, I'm gonna wear my cowboy hat.

Congrats, Ruby! I thought it was about reunion time!

My soldier/coworker made it back safely from Iraq, but now he's tied up in military red-tape with his health insurance. I'm sure Jon knows this, but tell him to watch all the forms closely.

Jon's arrival date was once again changed by the military. Now it will be in July once again instead of August.

Ruby. We had a Rally for the Troops at our State Capital today. A big part of it was the families that stay behind are true heroes. You never know when your husband is safe, or is in harms way. You guys go through a lot, and supporting your husbands (and wives) is an important part of national security.

Salute to you and Jon!

Thank you.

I am so thankful that he was in Afghanistan instead of Iraq. However, there were times when I would hear about a casualty in Afghanistan and I would be throwing up until I heard from Jon or until the name of the deceased was released. It has been a difficult year sometimes. But I really give a lot of credit to the women who were left behind to wait during other wars, i.e. the Civil War and WWI and WWII, when soldiers weren't deployed for a set period of time. When their men left, they might not be back for years and years in some cases.

Congratulations to you and Jon, Ruby. That moment of return is so special and then it just keeps going and you can't believe its really happening. But it is. Thanks to Jon and the ones at home doing their part too.

Thanks for your well wishes. His arrival has now been moved back to late Saturday night, but that's okay. What's another 2 days after more than a year? He's coming home!!!!!!

There is a show on television these days called, I think, Homecoming. It showcases military families while a member is deployed and then their homecoming. I have a very difficult time watching it and I cry at every story.

WK, bring it on! We'll kick your butt!!! BTW, that bean bag game that we played on last summer is mine that Brenda and Mark borrowed from me. So if you ever want to borrow it yourself, let me know.

There's a good little article in Readers Digest this month about how lots of Marines come through Bangor, ME on their way home. A group in Bangor hosts a gretting party for EVERY plane.
