SEEKING FELLOW WEST MICHIGAN HIKERSView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 15 of 15 messages posted.
SEEKING FELLOW WEST MICHIGAN HIKERS “Hello fellow West Michigan Hikers. I am known as Tom the hiking enthusiast. I never get enough of hiking. I think most people would agree when I say hiking is allot more enjoyable when you have someone to enjoy it with. Unfortunately most people in my area do not much care for hiking and so I am seeking others who live in the tri city area in West Michigan to hike with. I am a 46 year old family man with good morals and I am told a good sense of humor. People say I am fun to be with. I hike from June through October. I seek hikers who also have good morals and have weekends free to take longs hikes or a bunch of small hikes and who can drive a couple of hours out to hike them. Only if you are serious about trying a hike together than please respond. Thanks. hiker1@chartermi.net” 9:35:53 PM 7/01/05 “LOL Now THAT'S a good introduction! Hiker4, you will find plenty of Michigan hikers here. Plus, a few more from neighboring states. You've found the right place to look for serious hikers. Drive only a couple hours? Many of us will drive 6 hours for a weekender.” 9:42:59 PM 7/01/05 “look on the trips page and sign up for a trip :)” 10:03:44 PM 7/01/05 “"...I seek hikers who also have good morals..." HIKER4 10:35:53 PM 7/01/05 Well, I guess that leaves me out. But I still get out every once in a while Hiker4---at least I try---my free time is pretty minimal. Just keep your eyes posted around here cuz I'll let you know if I'm going out and I'll look for you too if you have a trip planned.” 10:39:33 PM 7/01/05 “That leaves most of us out! If you like bacon rings, farting and belching out loud, then you have come to the right place!” 10:59:49 PM 7/01/05 “WK...what are you doing up so late? and why are you so fascinated with bacon rings? (man o man, i miss the days when I had no idea what bacon ring was LMAO) last edited: 7/01/05 11:39:16 PM” 11:35:03 PM 7/01/05 “?! Spirit-- What the heck is a "bacon ring"?! I thought he was talking about pork rinds?! Welcome Hiker4! There are a lot of us out here! Thinkbubelz & I are near the Detroit Area, but depending on the weekend and the trip, we might be up for some hiking on the west side of the state! We have been known to drive up to 5 hours to go for a weekend camping trip, so 2-3 isn't bad... :-) (plus we have a friend or 2 on the west side as well.) If you want to find other hikers--there are several trips in Michigan--check out the trips page....We met a few last year-- they were very nice to hike with and we had fun!” 8:53:07 AM 7/06/05 “Oops. last edited: 7/06/05 9:04:51 AM” 9:01:56 AM 7/06/05 “Anyone - What is the tri city area in West Michigan? And, what is West Michigan? Just curious. Thanks. last edited: 7/06/05 9:04:09 AM” 9:01:57 AM 7/06/05 “I'm guessing grand rapids/kalamazoo don't know what the 3rd is? Maybe St. Joseph?” 9:13:23 AM 7/06/05 “I live in West Michigan and I never heard of a tri city area. I'm guessing Lansing is being tossed in there: GR, K-zoo, Lansing.” 9:59:34 AM 7/06/05 “Hello Hiker4. Welcome. I'm over on the other side of the state. But, occasionally make my way to the west side. Nowslimmer... I'm not familiar w/ a "tri-cities" on the west side of the state, either. Perhaps Hiker4 will elaborate.” 10:05:25 AM 7/06/05 “What about the "West Michigan?" I would consider that to be Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This Tri Cities, Michigan, is not in West Michigan! Do I smell a troll?” 10:31:45 AM 7/06/05 “We refer to the Lake Michigan coast as Western Michigan. In fact, Western Michigan Univ is over that way, in the southern part of the state. So, that's not odd. Tho, as you point out, there isn't a tri-cities area on the western side of the state, as far as I know. The only one I'm aware of is in mid-Michigan (Midland, Bay City, Saginaw) which, I assume, is what you're link refers to. Troll? Don't know. Not too concerned, either.” 11:04:59 AM 7/06/05 “Tarabull described it perfectly. I always thought of the tri-cities as Bay City/ Saginaw/Midland... and sometimes Flint is thrown into that area.) Then there is the "Thumb Area" which I consider to be north of Macomb county area... to the tip of the thumb... Up North to me is anything above the 'Tri-Cities area" and of course, the U.P. is above the Mackinaw Bridge... :-) Western Michigan is anything west of Lansing (to me anyways!)” 6:33:36 PM 7/11/05
