Deam Weekend

“I posted a weekend hike in the Deam Wilderness next Sat./Sun., and some normally reliable hikers have dropped out for family &/or injury reasons, leaving a small group of 1 ( me)... I would really prefer company, and hopefully some new folks might be interested, but without some activity I'll probably pull the plug in a couple of days. If there is an interest, I'll post the planned route, trailhead, timing, etc. Here's hoping ol golfhiker gets some company!”

“It's the Deam Wilderness. Located in the Hoosier National Forest, just south of Bloomington, In. Approx. 60 miles from Indianapolis. There are a few nice loop trails in the Deam...”

“The way things are shaping up, it's not looking like anyone is available for this proposed weekend hike. Therefore, unless someone announces today an intention to go to the Deam on Sat., I'm going to pull the plug on the hike. Sometimes it's just not to be! ”

“golfhiker, i've been backpacking for about 4 years...been trying to convert friends/family to no avail...maybe i should make friends of backpackers instead of the other way around...let me know if you want to plan another local trip...been wanting to do deam for a while”

“timecline: thanks for jumping in... you are indeed correct, make lot's of backpacking friends and you can't go wrong. There are bpers all over indiana, and we frequently meet up for hikes in & out of Indiana. I would recommend you keep watch on this site as well as register on Midwesthiker.com to get updates on future hikes in the area. There will be many opportunites before the year is out! and you will be a welcome addition.”

“i'm pretty much a cold weahter baby but i think if i got a little better bag i might be ok...i have a 25 degree bag now, 25 degree my a$$...nearly froze it off in march in hoosier...september sounds good...weekends are usually booked till winter but with enough notice it should be all good”
