The day started in the usual fashion. I rushed quickly into the bathroom! Then I made some coffee and tuned into TT. I moved about in a lazy, old man fashion, killing time until around 11 A.M. Checking the swimming pool schedule, I saw an opening of several hours. So I packed a change of clothes, goggles and swim suit and headed to the pool. Somehow I managed to swim 2,700 yards, just over 1.5-miles. After a nice shower I headed to a nearby building. I went in and was taken to a room where a young, beautiful, shapely, blond-haired girl told me to take off my shirt and lay down. She appeared to be about 25, but I learned that she was 37. I followed her orders without any argument.

Next she had me move over and turn on my side as she sat down against me. She had a strange object in her hand, somewhat like a plastic stick with a damp end. She wiped my chest with a towel and began running the object around my chest, as she leaned further over me. She was just too beautiful, so I closed my eyes and just enjoyed the massaging effect of this object on my chest. Abruptly she stopped, got up and led me to another room. There I was directed to a treadmill and my stress heart-echo test was completed.

Nest I had to sit in a lobby for almost two hours. Finally, I got to see my cardiologist. He showed me film clips from the heart-echo test. One or two areas of my heart were lazy while my body was at rest, due to damage from previous heart attacks. But the entire heart, slightly enlarged, beat beautifully under stress. All the muscles were contracting nicely to pump the blood for each beat. He told me the heart was looking real good. I had several questions. One was, "What is my life expectancy?" He replied, "Ten years!"

So there you have it. It appears that you'll have to put up with me for a while longer.

Now I have to head back to the health club. It's almost time to smash some people to the mats at aikijutsu class.
Every word is true!

My bet is that ten years is a conservative estimate.

You go, young man!

Ten years?
Part of me says that's great, part of me gets a little depressed.

Jail? That's later.

Ten Years
I was surprised that he even gave an answer. Ten years is right in line with statistics. But with the heart doing good, the important thing for me is to avoid other things that could do me in.

I, also, asked him about a parting remark he made a couple of years ago. He said, "Your exercise program is the only thing keeping you alive!" I told him that I thought it was the pills! So we discussed each pill and the exercising. I am definitely a lot more active than most people my age. I need to continue activities to keep going. It would be easy to say the hell with everything, spend my time in a rocking chair and let myself go!

Growing old is not for the fainthearted!

hmmm, yeah, I suppose the cold water would be tough on the ticker. Seeing wintersolstice in a swim suit should help though..........
