All out west but no time to hike!
Figures, the fist time in my life I am west of Ohio its in Glacier National Park for a wedding but since I am teaching summer school I only have 1 day (Saturday July 23) to do anything.
So short of not going to the wedding what do I do with one day in Glacier? Is there a day hike that wont totally kick my ass but I might not be with 100 other people? Should I go to see the buffalo range instead? HELP.....

Take a hike at Logan Pass. Take the trail to Hidden Lake, where the trail ends at the creek, ford this easy creek and you can be alone and explore the excellent alpine scenery. You will have to endure the first mile with tourists, but the descent to lake will lose them.

Glacier NP
Well how long of a hike do u want?! I just got back from a week at GNP and if i could take only one hike that captures everything GNP has to offer, i'd take the Grinnell Glacier hike. 11 miles round trip, gradual 1600 feet. Ends at the glacier, but takes you up with views of glacier lakes, cascades, waterfalls, mountains, and a possible encounter with a griz.

Glacier NP, what a tease
Logan Pass is an great day hike, I have crossed the creek at the bottom (last July), if I remeber tonight I will post some pictures. ITs about 12 miles if you cross and take an off trail tour but definitely a great day as you get beautiful views on the way up and see a lot of the park. If you are more adventures and don't mind more miles there are definitely other great day paths too.

yea i took that trail last week and i ran into three goats on the trail, plus the whole trail was still under snow so we had fun slogging through it to the overlook. People packed in their skiies and it was a fun time overall.

Logan Pass Visitors Center
Looks like I will drive up to the visitor center at Logan pass, asses the weather and the crowds and then day hike from there. I still cannot believ I only have a day, oh well. Thanks for all the help.
