Bicycle touring sites??

A co-worker and I were talking about doing multi-day bicycle trips. He might go cross country. I'm more likely to do something in New England and/or the Maritimes.

Are there good websites for people who do this? Other sites where I could learn useful stuff about routes, gear, camp sites, etc...?

I'm more interested in roads, both paved and unpaved, than mountain bike trails - although I'd be happy to hit a few mountain bike trails as well.

Are you looking for SAG support or self supported?

There are a ton of SAG supported rides, just search on bike tours. I did the MOOSA tour a few years ago, http://www.inmotionevents.net/
I had a great time.

For self supported, here's a good site...

Thanks Twig and Ewker.

I am looking for self supported (I'm too cheap/house poor to pay for support).

Some of them aren't too expensive - the MOOSA was $180 when I did it, now it's $280. They provide camp sites with showers, SAG (though it was minimal), route maps (they got permission for us to ride thru construction one day - though that may not sound appealing, the alternative added 20 miles to our already 65 mile day), plus transportation from Canada back to Maine. Now I guess the MOOSA tour bikes every day and makes a loop.

There's a guy who's spoken at a couple of bike things I've been to - I think his name is Marty Batson - he and a friend biked the Continental Divide and he's done many other self supported rides.

ped, a store in Seattle that sold bicycles had a map of cycling areas. It may be good to call a few and see if they carry any. You may want to start off by asking if they carry something you may say you need, so they don't just think you want to stop by for a map.

Outdoor stores that sell bikes might also have maps.

Thanks y'all for the suggestions and great links! I've been having fun checking them out.
