I just got home. Had a great time seeing old friends, MarkO and Janet (son Linus), Jackstraw, techNtrek and meeting the famous Lyra.

The night went by so fast.

Great to meet Jackstraw, lyra, and lilmountaingirl. Janet and Linus too, although I'm not sure if they post here. I enjoyed everyone's company last night. Like EarthNsky said, it went by so fast.

As I said last night, everyone should come up for a campfire at our place some time. We have a real fire ring and are in the middle of the woods. Ignore the house and you'll think you are backpacking.

I think I doubled my "who I've met" list overnight. ;)

Great meeting y'all! Now...when are we going hiking? If we do a trip with kids...I'll have to rent a kid.

I'll post all three pictures that were taken in a few minutes. hehe

This Saturday (9/10/05)
Anyone available for lunch and/or possibly roaming around Inner Harbor/Fells Point?

Gonna be in town with GreenMonkee and possibly a couple of other folks (MsKB can't make it on Saturday), planning on meeting MarkO for lunch if anyone else is interested? Not sure exactly where yet but we can figure that out!

howdy
I just moved to the Baltimore/DC area and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Mississippi, and used to live on the Gulf Coast (most of which no longer exists). I'll be out of pocket for the next three weeks or so -- I'm going down there a couple of days as a Red Cross volunteer -- but I should be back in time for some good October hiking. Has anybody heard anything about this "Colder Than a Blair Witch's Tit" trip I've heard about? Is that going on this year?

Wish I could join up, but I've got plans. Originally I was supposed to join the hike in PA the weekend, but that's been cancelled. Now the wife has snagged me for a ton of "other" things that need to be done. Sigh.

mojesic - we'll have to see about the Blair trip. One of the trip's usual sponsors is no longer in the area. Might sponsor it myself if necessary.

Geez Bison, you are wasting fuel with your long commute!!

Hey Bearmagnet!!!

I might be able to escape Baltimore Wed or Thurs evening.

Y2, are you workin' round the clock??
MarkO

hmmmm MarkO, I'll have to look into how much fuel I'm using commuting to Boston by plane vs. commuting to downtown Denver by car. I wonder how that would compare?

Hmmmm... Looks like I'd use about 10 gallons a week to commute downtown, but I'm using about 64 gallons a week to commute to Boston :( sorry everyone, I'll have to find a way to make up for that.

Well I guess the Capitol Lounge is outta the qustion, it burned down a couple of months ago. There is a great wine bar next door (I know, wine bar!!!! - but they do this fantastic charcuterie board thing with six types of cured red meat and bread and fixings and stuff). They also have a stellar range of single malts to accompany it.

Stoney's Bar & Grill. Open since the 50's I believe and looks & smells like it. Downtown DC's last "dive" bar. Everyone has been there, goes there. From shmucks like me to Bill Clinton.

Stoney's, a victim of gentrification. :(

'k, thanks for the explanation. I get to DC about as often as Bill and Hillary get nekid, so I didn't know the place.

Bill and Hill get naked??

Well, I will be in White Oak(Silver Spring) this evening for a graduation party.

Where is this Stoney's??

I went to some dives on Georgia Ave near Walter Reed many years ago.

Then there was Fred's in Brookland, my childhood neighborhood.
