GSMNP Cades Cove Bike Ride n Hike

“I know this is short notice but....

I just found out I have the weekend free and was thinking about bike riding the loop in Cades Cove EARLY Saturday morning (July 16). After the bike ride, I'm planning to hike a short section of the AT that I skipped a few years ago. The section is Newfound Gap to Clingmons Dome, approx. 8 miles. I'll spend the night at Mt. Collins shelter on Saturday night. Sunday I'll hike back out to the parking lot and head home.

“Man...I've been so busy you wouldn't believe it and I'm only half way through the project I'm working on. Being a project manager mostly sucks, but it has some benefits. Lately, I've been dreaming about the days when I came and went whenever I wanted and no one gave a crap. LOL

Hopefully, I'll get to take another week off this Fall and do a section on the AT.

“I am definetly interested. I have been waiting for 2 weeks to plan a trip and actually wanted to get over there. I have a mountain bike I just got out of mothballs and had it strapped to my roof to take to Destin last weekend. Well Dennis changed my mind about that! Are you planning on leaving from Huntsville and going up I-75? If so maybe I could meet you around Chatanooga and we could drive up together. I have my pack ready to go, just let me know. BTW do you have a bike to carry or are you going to rent one? If you have one, do you have a bike rack?
