I have these shoes I use for dayhiking:

Solomon XA Pro 3D Trail

I can easily 6-8 miles and my feet don;t really hurt with up to you know, 15-20 lbs. Question is, any of you try and backpack for 2-3 days with shoes this light? They have a medium-stiff sole to them, but when i get weight on them i don;t know if they will kill my feet. Any experience?

BTW, I have a pair of Montrails I use for longer treks but I want to try and save weight.

A NOBO thru-hiker that I ran into on the AT two weeks ago in VT has been wearing that exact same shoe since he left GA. He's on his third pair ~ Solomon has a one year guarantee and he was putting aboot 500 miles on each pair, he said. Only reason I remember it is because I had done some trail magic for him in PA and then saw him again in VT...he talked about his shoes both times. He loves them.
Hope that helps a little.

Many of us, myself included, backpack almost exclusively with trail running shoes. No problems.
