Hello there
Just wanting to introduce myself to everyone.

I am a 23 year old male from Virginia who is just now getting into backpacking.

Hi. Welcome aboard. I'm a male in California, born and raised here and never left the state, but I'm from Virginia too. How so? Because that's my mom's name.

Thanks for the welcome.

I admit that I am a newbie to this, but I hope that does not draw people away from me. :)

Sometimes you can be here for a long time and people will still be drawn away from you.

I was born, and raised in WV. Moved to VA the month before last.

Hiked some around Mt. Rogers the weekend that just passed. Beautiful place

WVCoalEater, how do we really know this is you? Also, quick question... have you ever contracted the dreaded black tummy disease?

Welcome to TT and thebackpacker.com. Don't mind the troll calling and abuse you may receive on this site for being a newbie. We were all newbies once. I was newbie less than 3 years ago. Trail talk can be a great resource for trail, safety, general bp'g info, gear and trip info. Check out the trips page for trips in your area. On trailtalk trips you get to meet other trailtalkers and learn a lot about backpacking from other experienced hikers and interesting people. Also, you get to learn about and visit some cool places.

Being in VA, you are surrounded by lots of great backpacking possibilities, being surrounded by PA, WV and VA. PA has more trail miles than any state east of the Rockies.

Hope you enjoy TT!

WV has some of the best backpacking in the midatlantic with Monongahela National Forest. It is the only place in the Mid-Atlantic where you can find alpine areas, like the areas up high in Grayson Highlands and Mt. Rogers.

West Virginia...
...my favorite backpacking state outside of the Northeast. There's some nice areas out there, though its title in my book is threatened by Colorado and Wyoming which I'll be visiting in a few weeks.

Anywhoo, I digress. Welcome aboard!

Black lung for breathing the stuff, black tummy for eating it.

If you can survive the initial badgering on this site, soon matt-the-webmaster may offer you a lucrative contract to stick around here and post daily. It depends on the quality of your posts and how cute your sisters are. He also promises 71 virgins if you die while spamming other backpacking forums, which is the best virgin-offering I've seen to date.

Flee now or forever hold your peace. Ye be warned. Arrrrr.

Yes, the vegitation around Mt. Rogers was very different then what I was used to seeing. And, I loved every bit of it.

We stayed up there from friday until Sunday.

LOL... Come on ladies.. why aren't we giving him the Troll welcome in its entirety? Just a little pay back from what the guys do when new women appear on here... ;-)

Maybe I should start...

What's your shoe size? How tall are you and do you backpack naked?

LOL just kidding around!

Hmm....no Buck....I've gone back through the terms and conditions from when I signed up and I don't see any virgin offering. Is this a back-to-school special or something? I would have waited to join if I'd known there was a special offer coming up. If I bring my receipt to Matt will he give me the same deal?

Welcome WV. I was just in the Monongahela area this past weekend for the first time and it is beautiful!

Welcome, WVCoalEater.
I can see right now that you're too clean. You gotta spend more time out in the woods.

How come you're just getting into backpacking? Did your girlfriend jilt you?

As a newbie your first assignment is to post the names and telephone numbers of three attractive girls. They must be of legal age, somewhere from 8 to 80. (You did say you're from WV, right?)

Yes, I am from WV, but live in VA now. I've always hiked (bush-wacked)and grew up in the woods. Lived in a two bed-room house two miles from anyone growing up.

Now, I'm looking to get some nice gear and stuff, and hitting the trails besides making them lol

Yeah man, we've got another West-Virginian-turned-Virginian around here...

Yo Fridge, you there? Earth to Fridge...

Anyway, he posts by the name of Refrigerator (long story -- maybe you can ask him how he got that); pretty cool guy -- might live around your neck of the woods...
