Who won? You didn't read the captions. The guy holding the prize on his head won.

Nice pics. I love the shots of the eagle. Did you get a chance to check out how the Cass modle train is coming along?

We did not get to the Showcase this trip. Everybody wanted to hit the gift shop. However, I was there in May and it is coming along. There still seems to be more work to be done though. Not sure if the same guy is still there or not.

I am planning a trip to the Sods in September and hope to include a side trip to Cass. I'll let you know how the model train is progressing.

Not hard to spot CS. She is the one with Yellow Waldies.

I hate those #&%!$ing shoes.......not hers....mine.

I ought to go torch Binks store for ever selling her the damn things.

Watch out for engineers blowing whistles, CD!

LOL. Yeah, I swear the engineer blew the whistle the second time just to see me jump out of my skin again.

The scouts and I rode a cog railway up to Pikes Peak (14,000+) in Colorado last month. I never did get a good look at how that works though.

The cog railroads work very simply. A center wheel that the engine turns has cogs that engage the teeth on a center rail. Pulls the thing up the mountain. The one on Mt. Washington is one of the originals, and the little engines have their boilers on a slant so they will be level on the steep grade. Some of them look like little tea kettles.

Yeah MarkO, that last picture has some interesting rusting hulks and rocks. I see now why you turned in early.

Yeah Bit, those exact words were going through my mind as the train climbed up the really steep parts. The train was chugging along so slowly that I at one point I thought it was going to stop and then roll backward.
