Buckeye State..what to do?

“ok guys...I'm never clear exactly where everyone on here lives but thought someone may can help. I get to visit the meca of Columbus, Ohio in a few weeks. Last year I was forced to go to a mall in the evenings with co-workers. I'd rather someone stab me in the eye with a fork than do that again. Any suggestions of cool things to do there?”

“I'm not going to have any wheels. Would love to get to Hocking Hills but a taxi won't do. Figured there may be some things I can walk to or taxi to around town. Where is Nigal when ya need him!?”

“Lots of nice local metro type parks in the Worthington, Westerville area.”

“Columbus is a GREAT area....lots of trails for bikes and hikes in town....My oldest daughter lives there...(actually moving to Mt Vernon this weekend)...check out the Victorian and German parts of town....wonderful homes....lots of neat shops at Short North ( I think that is the name..)
...I'm going up in August...going to visit my kids, take in the broadway musical of The Phantom of the Opera...eat at some of my fav restraunts and delis....and do some Kayaking... a side trip to Galyans..(or is it Dicks now???)”

“I'm sure about what there is in Columbus to do on foot. There are great hikes within one hour of columbus though. Blackhand Gorge and Clifton Gorge. Check out:

Broad street down by the universaty is pretty cool for eating out even though it is dirty.”

“spent some time in columbus for business...the german village is pretty cool...lots of "trendy" shops, homes, and restaurants...home of the original max and erma's restaurant”

“columbus has a great music scene.... lots and lots of bars and restaurants in the short north, arena, and german village districts....

if you are downtown, the COSI museum (across broad street on the river) currently has a highly interesting exhibit on the titantic....

the ohio state fair runs from august 3-14 and is one of the better state fairs in the country....”
