I was talking to birch about this trip this morning and how I wanted to take my wife on a trip and we both agreed the milage would be a bit much for her newbie hiking level.”

It sounds like this is turning into a horde of people descending on the forest to eventually converge at a camp site to get piss drunk. You don't need high mileage for that. In fact you need low mileage the day after ...”

“10 confirmed and 10 possible it says. WK was saying we might have a few groups, some with lots of miles and some with much less and a plan to converge on the camp in the evening. That sounded really smart to me, but I admit I don't know if that's still the plan or if it ever was.

It all depends on if you want to hike with everyone. You can make Saturday's hike a lot shorter if you want. You can enter at a different trail head and cut the distance in half.”

That TV run on batteries? We can rig up like a 2 mile extension cord from the trail head to the campsite no problem. There is already a 60 inch wide screen plasma tv at the site so no one will have to carry anything.

I was thinking that you guys (and anyone else that does not want to hump all their gear, all day) park at the Temple hill trailhead and carry your tent and any heavy items to the campsite at First Creek and set up first thing in the morning. The hike looks to be less than 2 miles. Then hike back to the trailhead and drive north on Houchins ferry road to meet up with everyone departing from First Creek trail head.

This would be a great idea for those that want to hike more miles, but don't want to carry all their stuff.”

“The other advantage of this plan is that it nails up the two camp sites at First Creek so there is no chance we will lose them. They only let you have 8 people at each, right?”

“Technically we have to reserve the sites at the ranger station that morning. Once they are reserved, they are ours. Yes, they only allow 8 people per site (ON PAPER). That is how we will sign up too. The first people will sign up for site one and the rest will sign up for site two. When we arrive at the sites, we can choose the larger site and all camp there.

These are pretty big sites and ca accomidate all of us.”

This reminds me of my first TT trip, to Savage Gulf. We were all sitting around the fire talking, and noticed that there was one guy alone in another campsite.

Someone suggested that we take off all of our clothes, go over to his campsite, and slowly form a circle around him, chanting.

I do have a WebShots album of the trip but can't access it from work. Seems like Ewker and maybe someone else met up with us Sat morning after we camped Friday night.”
