My car has a couple of small dents in it. Isn't there some kind of suction cup thingee you can use to just pull the metal out? Or do I need to take it to a professional? If it's too much trouble, it's not a big deal - a couple of dents adds character to a car!

The suction cup thingies work well if the dent is shallow and wide - like from a hip-check or something.

For steeper dents they sell a little handle with a screw tip that you insert in a drilled hole to pull the dent. Then you have to bondo the hole and paint.

They do make kits for this at local auto stores. Basically a suction cup that will pull the dent out. They don't always work and you may have to have it done profesionally.

You could try one of these

There will be no drilling into the car! So, can you just get the suction cup thingee at an auto parts store?

Edit: Wow, WK, you read my mind!

Those suction cups don't work worth s--t, imo. You may have better luck than I did.

I noticed that the site you linked had a "people who purchased this item also purchased these" section. One of the items was a 13-piece ginzu (sp?) knife set!! Not to mention the laser parking assister for your garage!

I've heard of ppl fixing dents by parking in the hot sun for a while and icing the area around the dent. The steel contracts and pops the dent out. I've never had an occasion to try it though.

How large are they and where?

About the size of a large apple, located just above the side windows. No, they were not caused by apples; that's just the size.

Wet the area around the dent, apply a bathroom plunger, and pull up...

The cup type red rubber ones....they make a smaller version, it may the size you need..

Leave the dents.

Spend a few dollars on your loved ones instead.

I have more than a few dents in my vehicle.

You could try popping it out from the inside, but you'd have to take the door panel off to do it. If you do that, start from the outside of the dent and work towards the inside (deepest part) of the dent. :-)

That reminds me, I need to go out and wipe all that African dust and sand off my car. It's either that or junk from jet engines flying in and out of Melburne International Airport very close to here. I'm definitely in a fall-out area. Some of it could be fried feathers from the space shuttle launch, too. And there always are sprinklings(!) from live gulls and pelicans. Damn, this is a dirty neighborhood.
