“Dobbins Slashing Bog, in the northwest corner of the Dolly Sods in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, was the last parcel of land in the Red Creek drainage that was not under public protection. As part of mitigation for using a wetlands in the Stony River drainage to the north as part of its mining operations, Buffalo Coal will turn over Dobbins Slashing to the state of West Virginia for a wildlife area.
