Hey ScorchFire
I have been looking for some boots for Tucker , my lab. I have looked at the neoprene hard sole type at www.doggear.com

Do you have any suggestions and or ideas?

Thanks.

jesus.... that dog bark when i opened the site scared the living hell out of me!

honestly? i haven't used any dog boots with bailey so i really can't suggest anything... but i was looking at that scary barking site and you definitely want a hard sole... i would go with the high performance if you were to get either of those pairs. whatever you decide let me know how it goes, i will have to get bailey a pair before the winter gets here.

Tried to put boots on our dog because of the salt in the Winter. Pretty funny sight. Imagine a dog trying to keep all fours off the ground at the same time! If you're going to shod your dog, do it early in their life, or it may not work.

I use these on my dog in the winter. Keeps the ice and snow from building up between his pads.

I have never used booties on my dog, but maybe its a good idea in the snow? Will there paws get all cracked and sore?

Booties were similar to what skiracer posted. Didn't work. Cheaper to use an old towel to wipe the feet.

Scotch Tape? Hmmm. Wife is gone, dog is here. "Here doggie...." *snicker*

When my dog walks on snow and ice when it's below about 10 degrees in the winter, the heat from his pads will melt the snow causing "ice balls" to form on the hair between his pads. It seemed to be very painful for him to walk with the ice balls as he would limp and stop to try and chew at the ice between his pads. The booties work just fine for him, but it's important that you get the right size. It's funny the first time of the season when I put them on him. He tends to "high-step" and try to keep all his feet in the air. Once he's outside with them on, he walks normally.

An "old towel to wipe the feet" just doesn't work in the really cold temps.

i've never used them on my lab and she's never had a problem... whether it be winter spring summer or fall. i just think they're a waste of money.

The boots are a waste of money, IMO also. Now, that link that Scorch posted above, they have Mushers Wax. Says it protects the dogs pads in winter and in summer, from the hot pavement. I'd try that first.
