Mt. Tallac Hike & BBQ

“So...Hikerchic & I are going hiking next weekend up to the top of Mt. Tallac. Anybody want to join in? We'll be having a BBQ afterwards.:)”

“Wish I could come down and do the day with you two... I'm hoping to get down there before too long to see Hikerchic and maybe get some of you's all to show up!”

“hey, rockman, a bbq is a great idea! count me in! I'd love to bbq on one of the many beaches around the lake.

I'll look into which beach is closest to us and get back to you.”

“hey ladyhiker! I wish you could go! But how does your October look for Desolation Wilderness? I mentioned that to rockman, pepperdog, shamus, and songbyrd. Pepper said that wanderer would probably want to go too. We'll have to pick a weekend for that and start planning soon.

Rockman, there is a really nice cove not far from Desolation which would be great to bbq. The parking lot is just above the beach. It's in the D.L. Bliss State Park. Been there? Or, we could go to this other one that I know of in Kings Beach. There's a lot to choose from. This is going to be fun! I can't wait!”

“Fine. Just leave me out of the planning for an October trip into Desolation. See if I care.”

bowlderman, of course you can come along on the Desolation Wilderness trip!

“No, no - don't invite me along just because you feel you have to....”

“Just in case others show up at the trailhead and didn't sign up, it does happen sometimes, Hikerchic and I will be arriving a little later like 9:30ish.”

“Actually, we'll be at the trailhead more like 10:30ish. Rockman will be at my place 9am ish and it takes about 1 1/2 to the trailhead from Truckee. You have to go pretty slow thru those small towns on hwy 89. So, if anyone else wants to go, show up between 10-10:30.

And bowlderman, pepperdog, I'll have to get on the planning of the Desolation Wilderness trip for October and post it asap. It'll be here before we know it!”

“Sorry but Shamus and I are out. The 8am trailhead time was a tad early. I guess y'all thought of a better way to spend your morning too.

I am coming up with a plan "b" which is to hike the TRT section from Big Meadow TH to Echo Summit. The shuttle is slowly coming together. It is about 15 miles so it should be a long day but it will be the first leg of my planned section hiking of the TRT.

If I chicken out on that I might go to Winnimucca Lake - but that is always so crowded. The weather report says it will be plenty warm but it has to better than down here!”

“I sure wish I could join you all tomorrow on this hike...I just got back from Humboldt County from being gone 6 days..and just can't get away for the day tomorrow..I am so behind on my work and have got to work all weekend to catch up.

You all have a really nice hike up to Tallac...be careful there is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Pepperdog I have heard the flowers going into Winnamucca are beautiful right now

“hi all,

Well, the hike never became a reality. Rockman arrived at my place later than planned & didn't feel like starting the hike so late so we just headed for the beach instead. We figured we'd hike the next day. It was a beautiful day. We ate sandwiches, drank beer, nice conversation, and people watched. Went home, bbq'd chicken, and watched a movie.

Morning came but we decided to sleep in instead. Plus it was going to be 91 degrees! Made a nice breakfast, hung out for a bit, then rockman departed early afternoon. I guess he had enough of me! :)

So, it ended up being a nice weekend even without the hike.
