Mr. and MRS. crazy's honeymoon hike w/pi cs!

“Knowing we couldnt risk going too far in our car(it needs repairs) we decided to stay locally and find a hike. So we went over to Indiana Dunes National Shoreline, intending to do some loop trails. The trail we ended up on was poorly marked, the park map SUCKED and we ended up god only knows where. But despite all this we still had fun- all except for the tick that decided to get a taste of my ankle- he got pulled off and killed.

These berries were SOOO sweet.

Oh course half way through, since we were the only ones on the trail......ahem...never mine. Lets just say the biting flies got us in some normally protected places and leave it at that. :)”

“No beach or sanddune scenes? That place used to be great for swimming and for running up and down the dunes. What is this world coming to?

Did you ride the train there and back? I believe it used to be called the South Shore Electric. It goes to Hudson Lake, too, but not all the rrains stop there.

“Sc, you could have eaten the red berries, they're autumn olives. A little tart, but taste pretty good. The seeds are like grape seeds and should't be eaten. The plants with the red cones are staghorn sumac. The red cones can be boiled to make a tea, just be sure to clean out the little bugs first.
