New Guy “I just wanted to introduce myself to TT and let you all know a little about myself. My name is Paul and I live in Tehachapi, California (it's a little mountain town just north of Los Angeles). I've only been backpacking for about 6 months and have hiked most of the local peaks in my area. Looking to do the PCT sometime in the coming years, and planning to do Whitney and White Mountain very soon. I would like to put together a weekend hike sometime soon on the portion of the PCT located near me. I have been reading TT for some time now and you all seem like a very nice group of folks, Sarge kinda scares me though. Anyhow, looking forward to meeting some of you all soon in our hiking adventures!” 11:25:12 AM 8/01/05 “Welcome aboard.” 11:44:51 AM 8/01/05 “Already with the personal attacks from the left coast ... typical” 11:47:18 AM 8/01/05 “LOL, never heard someone make a negative comment about a TTer in their opening post before. You'll fit in fine. Welcome.” 11:53:05 AM 8/01/05 “Welcome to TT. People like Sarge is what makes this place so great. LOL” 11:54:59 AM 8/01/05 “Don't cry, Serge!!” 11:57:13 AM 8/01/05 “Welcome to The Backpacker's Trailtalk, Trailkicker67.” 11:57:54 AM 8/01/05 “Don't worry MarkO. My feelings can't be hurt by anybody from the People's Demokratik Socialist Republik of Kalifornia.” 11:59:49 AM 8/01/05 “Hey Sarge, I didn't mean anything bad by my comment, I apologize if I offended you. I've read some of your posts and your not afraid to speak your mind, I like that because I'm the same way. I'm not a fan of Kalifornia either. I'm originally from Texas and my job brought me out here to this God forsaken hellhole, but I am adjusting. I still miss Texas though.” 12:07:57 PM 8/01/05 “I wasn't offended, but thanks for the apology. My Kalifornia experience has been in Death Valley. From the way these TTers talk about it, apparently I was in the barren part of Death Valley. I'm sure Kalifornia has it's pluses. Buck is there, so it can't be that bad.” 12:14:25 PM 8/01/05 “If you are politically correct to Sarge's way of thinking, you are OK. Commies here, commies there, Sarge sees commmies everywhere!!!” 12:17:47 PM 8/01/05 “This thread is going to go all over the place! Welcome trailkicker!” 12:36:52 PM 8/01/05 “Sarge - You want I should have a little talk with this new boy? Not sure if Tehachapi is a typical California city...what's the average temperature in the summer?” 12:59:32 PM 8/01/05 “Tehachapi, at an elevation of 3,998 feet, may be a little cooler. They even have an airport there. last edited: 8/01/05 1:16:36 PM” 1:13:56 PM 8/01/05 “youve hurt sarges feelings! You must appologize! :) Welcome to the loony bin.” 1:15:53 PM 8/01/05 “Phil, the average temp is in the upper 70's to low 80's during the summertime. However, right now it's in the 90's. Winter is nothing but damn cold, and plenty of snow. The "Looney Bin" Spirit Coyote? Been there, done that, kinda liked it. I think I'm gonna like it here! Sorry Bonecrusher, my trail buddy named me that because I'm a little too aggressive with my pace when I hike. last edited: 8/01/05 1:22:34 PM” 1:20:49 PM 8/01/05 “I was talking about my given name, Paul.” 1:25:47 PM 8/01/05 “Oh, sorry.” 1:26:32 PM 8/01/05 “welcome aboard-” 6:21:15 PM 8/01/05 Ahhnold's Cullyfawnia? “I like the zing in the intro; I don't think that's ever been done before. What's wrong with your people?” 6:55:32 PM 8/01/05 “Don't mind DeoreDX; he's just a Troll...” 7:13:55 PM 8/01/05 “yeah - until he actually goes on a TT hike he will remain a troll btw note the power of this: ignore this user link” 7:33:36 PM 8/01/05 “This is the kinder , Gentler, TT. I'm in Central California (Atwater) about 1.5 hours from Yosemite. I also noticed from another thread that you are a Phillips, Craig and Dean fan. I just got their latest CD a few weeks ago. :-)” 10:03:11 PM 8/01/05 “"Uh ... ok. If somebody said "Burn!" to that in the real 70s they would have got their glasses stepped on." -Sarge Yeah, you're probably right. Thanks for the humor this morning folks, I'm just getting my first cup of coffee down me and I'm already feeling better. I have discovered that instant coffee on the trail first thing in the morning is not as bad as if I was at home. In fact, it's pretty darn good!” 11:07:35 AM 8/02/05
