we've been looking to get married somewhere in the smokies. the problem is that most places only have a chapel and don't really offer an outside service. the couple of places we've come across that offer an outside ceremony with a good view cost an arm and a leg.
does anyone have any ideas or know of anywhere we could look into? planning a wedding gets so tiring after a while.

SS or someone mentioned that at one point in time they let people have services in the old churches at Cades Cove. That'd be neat, but lots of gawkers.

Congrats.

Congrats ductape :)

Do you know of anyone ordained? a friend, a family member? who could do it for you?

You don't need to have it in the Smokies because you're already ssss-mok'n!

Ok. It's late.

i guess i need to clarify. i think getting married actually in the park is out because we will be a total of 35 people. i was talking about in the area, like gatlinburg or something.
www.almostheavenresort.com looks awesome but it's a bank breaker.

I think Stove Stomper got married in Cades Cove in one of the churches.

Check with him.

If you don't want to get married in GSMNP, then there are dozens of alternatives.

Hell, it's a leading industry up here.

No, but I got married in one of the Churchs in Cades Cove a bunch of years ago. ;-)

All it took was a permit from the park service and a deposit for any damage.

We did it in winter when few tourons were about.

Gatlinburg is nice, but very pricey

A wedding in the Smokies would imply a trip to Gatlinburg. No way, I'd do it. I'd rather get married in inner city Detroit.

Be aware, Smokies weddings usually involve one or more shotguns. However, most wedding packages do come with matching bride and groom air-brush t-shirts...so it's go that going for it.

A woman I met in the Smokies had her marriage ceremony at one of the waterfalls in the park, then the reception at one of the picnic areas. That might work out for you.
