Hey, it kind of counts as a TR......
Synchro, Ford and me set off early today to meet up with his Xterra offroading group in E. WA. It was 70* as we hit Snoqualmie Pass on I-90, and the sun was barely up.
We made it to Cle Elum in good time...and found the group at the camp site they had reserved (this was their big summer family campout). The BF drives an Xterra-and there is something about being with a large group of lifted trucks Oy baby! Of course, my man has the hottest truck around ;-)

Off we went on an easy drive up to Gallagher Head Lake (yeah, it is an easy drive...except for they all decided taking the Jeep trails would be more fun than the mainline 4X4 "road".) Though I was amply rewarded as I spotted an, urp, bounty of ripe Huckleberries on the side. I walked a bit so I could stuff my face..lol! Only, SOMEONE, ie...me, fergot to wear her good sports bra. If your a female and offroad, you'll get that reference. Owwie! The girls were getting slapped around....

Made the lake (well, I was there like 5 weeks with Rainrunner and Marzsit backpacking up in the area.) Hung around, and got swarmed by flies. Blech!

Made my man lunch and kicked back...whereupon I was doubly blessed! Ooh-la-la! Whatta open air privy I found moldering in the heather and huckleberries.....

Off we went and had a back breaking drive down-and got coated with a thick layer of dust and dirt...a fine micro dermabrasion if I say so.....

When we got down to camp, Ford and me and two other young boys went down to the Cle Elum River....they were safe and sound swimming, so with my Chacos on, I did something that freaks me-I forded the river, by myself, with no trekking poles-and did perfect Chacos defintely rock-not one rock did I slide or slip on-even all the slimey ones.

Then I sat down in the river and washed off as much dirt as I could. Then I realized my pants were see-thru lol.....

One of the guys went into town and brought back like 10 or 12 pizzas, 3 desserts, salad, fruit, etc.....well, we couldn't BBQ.....fire ban is all over! Oh well It was carcampriffic!

My back was pretty messed up tonight(from my injury a couple months ago...offroading makes me clench too much), so we bailed and drove back home-and got to see the sliver of the moon over Snoqualmie Pass-as the final colors of the sunset disapeared-pretty cool!

Great outing. Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures. (No picture of the overgrown dunes buggies?)

Sigh...I couldn't get a good shot of them at the lake! It was so bright up there-in the 90*'s.
I think all told there were 20+ Xterras at camp :-D Ooh-la-la!
