Thor Peak in the Eastern SierraView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 5 of 5 messages posted.
Thor Peak (12,300') “The weather was stormy, so I started out at 4:30 am yesterday from Whitney Portal to head up to Thor Peak. I took the North Fork Lone Pine Creek Trail to Lower Boy Scout Lake. When i got to Lower Boy Scout Lake I decided to head up to the peak from there like Joe did last week. I hiked up to the saddle east of Thor Peak and then traverse over to Thor Peak (12,300,). It's a pretty straight-forward route. I got to the peak at 9:30 am and then back down to the trailhead by 12:30 pm. I was home around 4 pm in the afternoon - I've never been home that early from a day hike in the Sierra before. Also, there were no mosquitos out - it was great! Here are some pictures I took: http://community.webshots.com/album/415135848ElREjb (If I've labeled anything wrong let me know)” 2:14:47 PM 8/07/05 “Hey wingding, nice pics! You still dating the NASCAR guy?” 12:09:33 PM 8/08/05 “no, the NASCAR guy is gone - he was also a forest service guy who wouldn't go out in the wilderness unless it was on fire no love lost there - i'm sure he'd probably say the same thing” 1:24:47 PM 8/08/05 “Wonderful pictures Kathy! The one of Russell with UBSL is really neat I think. I love how all the colors look with the dark sky..it's so different, we usually see blue sunny skies, so to see it in a different light is so neat! Great summit picture of you. Thank you for sharing! Hey..even Mt. Carillon you got a picture of :)I hope I get to the summit that weekend” 3:39:42 PM 8/08/05 “Anita: As long as the weather holds up for you, you'll make Carillon. I've put that one on my to-do list now that I've gotten a look at it. I'm going to see how I do on Whitney's Mountaineer's Route on the 27th before I add Russell to the list of peaks to do.” 11:04:18 PM 8/08/05
