I'm pretty sure that what "Bush" was trying to say to you, and said it very well, was that sins are sins...HOWEVER, some are way worse than others. We pay for all of our sins, no matter what. Just that some hold higher punishment than others.

Anybody want to condemn Hitler, please take it to another thread. Thanks.

Sarge, I am about as conservative as they get, but I'll be honest, if I didn't have the convictions I already do apart from you, you'd make me wanna go lib. You've turned me from someone often nodding in agreement to someone who prefers not to be associated with the same viewpoints you often take. Your takes on things and points and arguments make-um no-um sense-um. Comparing Peter Jennings to Hitler, and comparing the sensitivity to a news reporter who died yesterday to a Hitler, who committed suicide as a mass murderer DECADES ago, is astonishing and bizarre and there is no further point in playing your games. People with more time to waste than me will Shirley entertain you.

If you want to remain hypocrites, fine. I won't stop you.

Only talk bad about dead people YOU feel it's ok to do.

For the next dead person, could somebody please tell me who gets to decide what's right? Is it Matt? Buck, you know, right?

Who is Shirley? Buck keeps talking about her. Is she hot?

I tried to read Mein Kampf one time. I got about 100 pages in and that was enough. In hindsight, I have no idea why I tried to read it other than to get a glimpse at how and why WWII was started.

The funny thing here is that none of this has to happen. I posted on a different thread that I would hike any day of the week with Sarge, and I meant it. We are all entitled to our own ideas, views and certainly opinions. From the way we dress every morning to the color tent we choose to go backpacking with. WE are all unique. That is the great thing about being an American, we can do it it.

Sarge is attacked because of this. Some may think him hateful, some stupid. As stated above, your entitled to that.

What I am trying to say here is that Sarge get everyone bent out of shape every time he posts. Now I am not saying to ignore him, but I am saying to take what he says tongue in cheek. No disrespect to you dude. I would love to hike with you some day. Your state has some of the most beautiful trails in it.

Okay, let me have it!

Buck, the other day I was lifting weights and I was daydreaming about accidentally running into you and your wife while you're out backpacking and me and my wife are out backpacking. I thought it would be so cool. We'd backpack and then maybe hit a restaurant afterwards, maybe go dancing or something.

Then ... you say this. Thanks man. Thanks a lot.

PS - I'm totally serious.

Hey Sarge, I know online personas can be different than real life. I'd hike with you any time. I'm just referring to your increasingly obnoxious online stuff. Maybe you don't see it, maybe you're letting people get to you and you feel like you're fighting off the world, but it's not your views, it's your approach. Notice how you are in just about EVERY discussion here? And 90% of them aren't nice? I've seen it over time. You are not "wrong", you are just over-exposed with negative threads and perhaps relentless to a fault (at least in the context here, because no one's minds are gonna change). If you could be relentless and change someone's mind on an issue, then I'd applaud your tenacity. But here where all it's gonna do is cause more negative reaction, then at some time you hafta say, "what's the point?" I would think, anyway. I dunno. Nothing "personal" though, this is all online fairyland stuff. In all my daze on this forum I think there's only one person I wouldn't care to hike, and it's certainly not you.

Anyway, quit fantasing about my wife in the backcountry. :Ž

I see your point Buck. I gotta tell you though, not to be argumentative, but to explain myself, that in the past I haven't seen too many people change anyone's minds online. It's a rare occasion. I have done it though (on another forum, which makes this one look like McDonald's Happy Land), and I have done it doing the things I'm doing now. Yes, I know how I come across, and if you take note, I have been on the defensive. Translation: I've been attacked. The Peter Jennings thing is a view shared by many people. Conservatives say that kind of stuff all the time, but not out loud. I'm a new conservative. The kind that many people hate because I speak my mind. I'm willing to take the hits for the team. You're smart not to associate with me online if you don't want to be hit too. I can take it. I've gotten tired of the garbage. You know what I'm talking about. I respect your methods. I know you are afraid of mine. It's ok. I'll go down fighting and you can remain safe. That's what I'm here for. Others are coming after me. It's a revolution. A revolution to stop the change.

Ok, some of that was bullcrap. Whatever. You get the point.

PS - Your wife's a good dancer.

PPS - One of the things I changed somebody's mind on was abortion. They're now against it. It felt great.

Sarge, trust me, if you get a 'convert' with your tactics, it cost you 3 that you've lost.

Yes, I know how I come across, and if you take note, I have been on the defensive.

I don't think attacking Peter Jennings out of the blue when he just died is "defensive". I also don't see your abrasive responses as "defensive". If you just made your points, sure, but you attack personally back in the same fashion. That's not defensive, ESPECIALLY against pagan hoodlums while coming across as a "Christian".

The Peter Jennings thing is a view shared by many people. Conservatives say that kind of stuff all the time, but not out loud.

Sarge, I run in conservative circles and I don't know ANYONE who would slam a man in death like you did. That's just low, regardless whether you felt he was a good news person or not. Compassionate conservatives DON'T say that stuff all the time. I don't even think Michael Savage or Ann Coulter would slam Jennings in his grave. It's called respect. It's called humanity. This stuff is larger than our personal viewpoints.

I'm a new conservative. The kind that many people hate because I speak my mind.

Hopefully when you become an old conservative you can speak your mind with respect and keep the same truths you hold dear.

I'm willing to take the hits for the team.

You ain't taking hits for MY team, and I'm a conservative. You're taking hits for yourself in the supposed name of conservatism and Christianity.

You're smart not to associate with me online if you don't want to be hit too.

Don't go all martyr on me now. I'm willing to take "hits" as you say for my stances, but if I take hits for my abrasive, ugly tactics, then I'm taking hits for me and me only, not for my cause. Same goes with libs... lots of good, honest liberals don't care for the approach style of the radical left wing because it sucks, and I don't like the radical right wing approach because it sucks and it does more harm than good. I think they're in it more for themselves than the cause.

I respect your methods. I know you are afraid of mine. It's ok.

I ain't afraid of your methods, I just don't like them because I often cringe at the association with Christianity and all that is good, right, and honorable.

Others are coming after me. It's a revolution. A revolution to stop the change.

Now you're sounding conspiratorial.

Sarge, you can take a higher, respectable road and keep your values intact than turn angry and combative in the name of a cause that's much bigger than yourself or myself.

But then again, I'm just another dude who's opinion is no greater than anyone elses who is procrastinating with a project on his desk and really needs to get it done before he types another post. Thank you.

We met at nine. We met at eight.
I was on time. No, you were late.
Ah yes! I remember it well.

We dined with friends. We dined alone.
A tenor sang. A baritone.
Ah yes! I remember it well.

That dazzling April moon! There was none that night, And the month was June.

That's right! That's right!
It warms my heart to know that
you remember still the way you do.

Ah yes! I remember it well.

How often I've thought of that Friday, Monday
night,
when we had our last rendez-vous.
And somehow I've foolishly wondered
if you might by some chance be
thinking of it too?

That carriage ride. You walked me home.
You lost a glove. I lost a comb.
Ah yes! I remember it well.

That brilliant sky. We had some rain.
Those Russian songs. From sunny Spain.
Ah yes! I remember it well.

You wore a gown of gold. I was all in blue.
Am I getting old? Oh no! Not you!
How strong you were,
how young and gay;
A prince of love in every way.

Ah yes! I remember it well.
