I bought an Osprey Atmos 60 while on my thru hike and experienced a chronic problem of discomfort in the left shoulder. During the hike I gradually decreased my weight from about 30 to 27 to 23 pounds in the hope that as I reduced the weight the shoulder pain would go away. Thinking that maybe the pack wasn't built quite right I called the Osprey customer service hotline while going through New York and they sent me a free replacement that I picked up in Salisbury, Ct. I hiked in it the 20 or so miles to Great Barrington, Ma. and knew right away that the problem was still there. Yesterday I brought the pack to Blue Ridge Mt. Sports in Richmond asking if they would troubleshoot the situation. I was helped by Greg and Ruth who were absolutely terrific. The result was that the pack I purchased earlier in Va was too small for me and a medium was the perfect fit. Working with Osprey they gave me the correct back pack from their on hand stock and are shipping the incorrect one (with only 20 miles on it) back to the company.

I mention this because excellent service should be recognized. I really like the pack, it fits like a glove and look forward to getting back on the trail and really checking it out. Yesterday afternoon I stuffed it with more weight than I've ever used on the trail and it felt much more comfortable than the previous pack. Fit really is everything. My thanks to Jimmy and Angie at Osprey and Greg, Ruth and all the folks at Blue Ridge Mt Sports in Richmond for their excellent customer service.

Happiness is a well-fitted pack. Glad to hear you're back!

I entered the first of the last two entries you sent me last night, I'll type in the other tonight.

Good story Nimble...I'm pretty new here and I'm sure it's been said a bizzilion times but it's good to actually have your pack fitted by a sales associate at an outfitter.

After reading the first two lines of your story I starting thinking that's probably what it was.

From all the talk about these Osprey packs, I think I am going to have to buy one.

I have one and I like it. The hipbelt has a pulley system so I can get it really tight on my waist.

i have an aether 60. i think it's 4 or 5 years old. some of the new stuff looks way cool but i think the aether's gonna last me forever so i might never get to have one of the new ones. you'd think i'd see it as a good thing that my gear isn't getting raggy. it's defiitely the most comfortable pack i've ever owned.

As a general FYI, BRMS is having a 50-75% off sale the weekend of May 5-6 at the Farragut store (west Knoxville).
