Looking at the pictures of the area - I think I better not bring the Hennessy on this trip.

I am talking about the hammock - the liquid version is a requirement.

You sure? Am I confusing Roseanne Rosannadanna with Jane's newscaster? dang, been awhile since I've seen those shows... and it's too bad!

Hey Spalpeen - to save space in the vehicle - you will not be allowed to bring any beer along.

LMAO! I think we have room for coolers!

....although, keep in mind that Mr. Jose Cuervo pre-mixed margaritas in a 96-oz. Nalgene fold-up bottle might be more space accommodating...

LOL! ;-P hiccup!

Maybe all the kilt wearing and making bangers (is that the correct way to say that??!? LOL) did him in on the Porkies trip!

I just hate it when kilts (and who knows what is or isn't under them??) are connected with "bangers"!!!! >8-O I bet sheep are truly NOT SAFE in Scotland!!!

“you people are downright odd”

Well, yes we are, were backpackers. We are the type of people that throw 30 lbs on our back and walk for a week. You are right - we are an odd lot.

Per Mapquest, it takes just over 4 hours 40 minutes to get to Lizs. The goal was to leave her place by 9:00 PM. It will be close. (unless I drive as fast as Lizs.)

I'm very, very PRETTY sure we will be putting packs in garbage bags on the roof rack. So make sure you have out what you need till we take them off at Wind Cave.

I think it will take a bit to figure out how to secure it. The netting's been used once and worked marveously, but I wasn't the one putting it on. I do have a ton of bungees, besides what came with the netting. Including two fun FAT bungees! LOL! I love the fat bungees! They're 45" long, so I anticipate using them diagnolly on the load.

no water filters correct?
spalpeen
12:49:06 PM

huh?

You can't filter water. You need to carry all water, at least in Badlands. Check Wind Cave "backcountry" or "backpacking" for info there.

Wind Cave nps website says sparse water is available. The map makes it look like there are some small strems in the vicinity fo the trails. But I have no idea as to their flow at this time of year or how much rain they've had lately.
