TORONTO, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Maple Leaf Foods Inc. reported a 12 percent rise in third-quarter profit on Thursday as Canada's largest food processor enjoyed stronger earnings from its bakery products group.

Toronto-based Maple Leaf said it earned C$30 million ($25.6 million), or 23 Canadian cents a share, in the latest period, up from a profit C$26.7 million, or 23 Canadian cents a share in the same period last year.

Analysts surveyed by Reuters Estimates had expected earnings, on average, of 26 Canadian cents a share.
