Bad First Date Movies

“Bison's post on the "Seen Any Movies Lately?" thread got me to thinking.

What's the worst movie you can think of to take a first date to? For the purposes of this, assume that you could actually take a date to these movies, regardless of how long they've been out of the theatre.

This is probably a different list for men and women, so here's my top five for each:


Men: (Movies that men shouldn't take a first date to)

1. Alfie
2. Sleeping With The Enemy
3. The Brown Bunny
4. Blue Velvet
5. Crash

Women:

1. Beaches
2. Steel Magnolias
3. Fried Green Tomatoes
4. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
5. Thelma & Louise

...and folks who forget to turn off cell phones.....or worse yet...ones who TALK on cell phones in the movies...GRRRRRRR”

“Has anyone seen the PSA where it seems that you're getting a preview for a martial arts movie, but in the middle of it a cell phone starts ringing (and everyone starts looking around the theater) then the fight scene stops as the actors look for the phone ringing.”

“I remember my ex-mother in law wanted to go see First Love. I had no idea what she was talking about. Well she and her husband went and walked out within the 1st 15 minutes. Found out they went to see First Blood with Stallone as Rambo....lol”

Having read the book, but not seen the movie, I assume it is probably one of the worst first date movies ever. I read an obit on the author of the book very recently.”

“Very funny that you mention that, I just had this experience last night... though it wasn't a first "date" if you consider a date something that was planned before hand, Here's the story- just a warning, it's kinda tough to follow.

Ok so I had been drinking, and hanging out with a female friend, who happens to be the ex girlfriend of the guy who is the drunkest at the time (probably the reason for his drinking) and 3 of her friends who are all like goody goody and would never even think of taking a drink, so three of us guys were drunk with 4 sober girls and one sober guy. This is all outdoors, in a campground type setting, I had my tv hooked up to my dvd player laid out a blanket and pulled a couple sleeping bags over the top of those who fit. We all watched Close your eyes, which wasn't too great. After time passed most everyone left except for my Female friend and my friend Jed who was passed out off to the side of the blanket. This is where we put in Fight Club, And as for my comment on whether or not it's a good movie, I have no idea - I don't think we watched much of it. So I never pictured this girl as someone I would do anything with besides a friendship. She was the sober one who took advantage of my drunkeness through the night. The morning was kind of awkward as I found myself in bed with this girl, the ex girlfriend of one of my best friends, but she didn't seem to have any problem with it. I didn't get more than 2 hrs of sleep and had to drive 4 hrs to be at work by noon today... what a night.”
