You should never hike with those who make you uncomfortable..it's kinda a gut call and one you should listen to. It's not something easily explained and there's no reason you should try. “i find it hard to believe that an experienced eastern sierra backpacker would leave a jmt through hiker stranded in lone pine...knowing how hard it is to find transportation, the fact that there is no public transportation...how much do you think a one way last minute ticket out of SoCal costs? are these guys still stranded in Lone Pine?”

“Experience had nothing to do with her choosing to stay or leave the hike She had her reasons. She told me they were made aware of transportation options. One person on the trip has access to transportation via a friend.”
