Does anyone own a Canon A95 powershot camera? “I finally decided to buy myself a new digital camera today, after researching for months. I decided on one of the canon powershot ones the A95. Do any of you have this model? and if so do you like it and can you tell me anything about it that may help with me leaning how to use it the best way. I was using a Sony where you record your images on a 3 1/2" floppy disk..so the whole flash card thing is all new to me. It is so much smaller in size than my old Sony..I can't get over the difference in size, it's going to be so much more compact and easy to use for hiking. Just curious if anyone has this camera Thanks everyone!” 11:28:23 PM 8/17/05 “I've got the A40, and have been drooling over the A95 for awhile, but haven't been able to convince myself to get it. The A95 has more modes than the A40, but mostly I've found I just use Auto, unless I'm trying to take pictures without flash in low-light conditions. Then I'll use the Manual mode and lengthen the exposure time. This is also good for catching those "rushing water" pictures. A caveat: Canons are infamous for the "E18" error, which usually means someone has dropped the camera while the lens was out, or got sand in the lens mechanism. It means that the lens mechanism is stuck, and cannot be extended/retracted. I've read stories about people who got the E18 error and claimed that they didn't drop or abuse the camera in any way, but you know how people are. The fix, if it happens, is non-trivial and must be performed at an authorized Canon repair shop. But it never happens to most people, especially if they don't drop the camera.” 11:51:26 PM 8/17/05 “OPIE has one. That was his wedding gift. I'll let him tell you more about it.” 12:32:31 AM 8/18/05 “i'm still learning it..i love it so far. Problem i'm having is that it is a little above my level...so i'm suffering from bad camera shake and some blurriness....i'm rereading the manual, gonna get a mono/tripod, and find out how to activate its antishake feature...that i think it has” 12:41:23 AM 8/18/05 “I've got one and have had good luck with it. Only hope I live long enough to learn to operate all the bells and whistles. Takes great photos.” 12:45:47 AM 8/18/05 “We have two A70's and one A75 at our house and they take great pics. The A95 is the newest generation of those with the movable screen. One of the couples on our Canadian Rockies Trip last week had an A95 and they seemed to like it.” 1:42:11 AM 8/18/05 “Thanks so much everyone! Opie..I too im thinking it may be a bit above my level....but maybe after I learn all the functions it has and feel confident in using it, I will feel different. I like that it also has a view finder just like a regular non-digital camera has. I think once I learn what it all can do I will really love it. It does take really nice looking pictures. I will be reading the manuel over and over Thanks so much again everyone!” 11:15:02 AM 8/18/05 “Quick comment...I have the A80. It works beautifully in the "auto" mode. You can experiment with the manual functions as you get more familiar with the camera. My only complaint is trying to view the screen in bright sunlight, but the view finder works well...once you figure out the actual area viewed.” 12:10:21 PM 8/18/05 “Exactly was steve said maiden, just work through the program scene modes to start with. Then you can get on the shutter priority and aperture priority and manual control.” 12:13:29 PM 8/18/05 “I have the A85 which is very similar (but not as good). I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. There are a number of forums that deal exclusively with cameras that you may be able to get more user tips on.” 10:24:59 AM 8/19/05 “I received the A95 for Xmas from my boss. Love it and I too am trying to learn all the bells anbd whistles. I expecially love the fold away screen...protects it when I'm hiking.” 1:21:36 AM 8/20/05
