No, just car camping. We'll be hiking, fishing, even driving to some other areas like the bristlecone pine forest, Mt. Whitney area, etc. It'll be a blast - the other family we're going with are great folks with a son about BowlderSon's age.

Have fun, B-man It was great up in Saranac. A little more sunshine would have made it a bit better. But, the families and the kids had a great and memorable time. Good to have Zac along.

It'll be great! We're hitting the road early Thursday. Lots of coffee will be needed; we're going to see "Wicked" Wednesday night for BowlderGal's birthday....

So what are everyone's summer vacation plans? Beach? Cruise? Sleep in for a week?

We're hitting the beach for 8 days at one point, then 7 more after that. I'm hoping to get in some canoe or kayak time on the first trip.

7/2 - 7/6 I'll be in Pensacola, FL visiting my aunt. 7/5 the Blue Angels have a practice show at the Navy Base. We'll go watch that.

7/6 - 7/9 I'll be in Destin, FL at the Sandestin resort for a conf.

A week of sand should be fun.

My wife will be in Destin for a ladies trip the Thur-Sun before all of this starts so she gets a week and a half.

Using the rest of my vacation days to move. :( I'll probably try and have a couple of 3-day weekends, but no big trips planned.

We moved from NM to WA and are still exploring WA while we unpack and get settled. Tetons, Yellowstone on the way. I bought a bunch of books, Topo for WA and a couple of guides to Spokane area hikes. Should I go in search of grizzlies and wood caribou in the Salmon-Priest Wilderness?

PS: Spokane has a good REI, 8 Garcia bear cannisters in stock, lots of paddling gear.

Lessee... Besides a big move this summer, I also plan to hike in Michigan's Upper Peninsula a couple times, at least. I don't have any plans to leave the state.
