Take a chance and I hope it works out for you !!” 6:42:42 PM 2/11/06 “Make a list of pros and cons about the new job. Then do the same thing about your current one. And consider - what will be the consequences of turning it down.” 6:46:21 PM 2/11/06 “Follow your instinct.” 6:49:46 PM 2/11/06 “Wow that is tough, paper work vs rescuing cute kitties and doggies. Just kiddin' that really is tough. Think back to a job sitting at a desk (if that is what she does), vs what you do know. I'm glad I'm not in your shoes. Good luck hot uni wearing Mapes! last edited: 2/11/06 6:50:44 PM” 6:50:12 PM 2/11/06 “Mapes, Take my advice with a grain of salt... that being said, in my experience opportunities sometimes only present themselves once. IF you accept the new job could you step down into your old position if things dont go well? I think its good that you are hesitant, that shows (to me anyway) that you are not over confident or have an inflated sense of self worth or a sense of entitlement. I would seriously consider it. Worst case scenario, you apply with her recommendation and arent selected. Your superiors learn two things from this. 1) you are motivated and desire promotion 2) you are respected by your superiors enough to draw their recommendation. Dont deny yoursef a promotion, allow someone else to do so. Its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you havent. I say go for it!!!!! last edited: 2/11/06 6:54:06 PM” 6:52:52 PM 2/11/06 “i will be back to the desk, but i still would be doing rescue but in a different way.” 7:05:39 PM 2/11/06 8:04:03 PM 2/11/06 “Birch couldn't have put it any lpainer!” 8:21:48 PM 2/11/06 “mapleleaf - Congratulations on your new position. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it.” 8:27:46 PM 2/11/06 “no no I have not gotten it yet. i am not sure if i want it or not. i would still have to get the position i guess i just need to talk to my boss and see what he thinks and find out more about the job. like the cons and pros.” 8:34:48 PM 2/11/06 “A picture of you in that uniform may help us decide...” 11:17:34 PM 2/11/06 “she looks like a cop in the uni!” 11:28:59 PM 2/11/06 “oh just use your imagination... :)~” 11:31:28 PM 2/11/06 “I'm just picturing all those hockey players running away scared at the sight of you...” 11:33:54 PM 2/11/06 “hey thats not nice ya know :)” 11:46:55 PM 2/11/06 “Well it seemed like a certain irony. I yahoo'd some animal control uniforms ... would you still get to wear the uniform behind the desk?” 11:53:27 PM 2/11/06 Go for it... “I believe that if you live life "right" and listen to your little voice, a path will be laid out and everything you need will be provided. Sounds like you have been guided towards this. "They" dont like it when they offer us gifts and we turn them down :-) last edited: 2/11/06 11:56:52 PM” 11:55:46 PM 2/11/06 “"She has a great great job" if you think so, then give it a try.” 12:12:38 AM 2/12/06 “I have a meeting with my boss today. I am going to ask him what he thinks and make sure that I would still have a job if I hate the other one. think I am pushing my luck? LOL” 6:24:47 AM 2/14/06 “"Pushing your luck" is often the only way to get ahead. Go for it, maple!” 8:26:06 AM 2/14/06 “Yea!!!!!!!!!!! Mapes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” 8:40:40 AM 2/14/06 “ok had my meetings. I am very glad I did. I got to ask questions about my current job and where I am going with it and to ask questions about the position I was looking at. The turning point was this. It seems that the turn over rate is very high. People seems to leave the job after 7 to 12 months. There have been at least 9 people doing that job. That sent up red flags!!! HIGH STRESS plus my boss wants to take us to a 24 hour 7 days a week rescue. With the extra hours comes more hiring. Plus there will be a need for a supervisor and he has me in mind :) so I am going to stay right were I am. I am glad that I decided to stay. It feels right. I did tell them both that I was worried that this was a far as I was going to go with this job and they both said NO. I can go further!! thank you all for your great imput. it did help!” 8:46:32 AM 2/16/06 “Cool!” 8:49:42 AM 2/16/06 “Sounds like you made a wise decision.” 8:50:36 AM 2/16/06 “Concur with lz. Good luck on the supervisory position!” 8:53:53 AM 2/16/06 “what would you do if your in a class bustin your @ss and working very hard to pass and you see this girl cheating on the first test. would you say something? her passing means nothing to me and i have no clue who she is. other then p!ssing me off.” 5:06:51 AM 5/03/06 “No good will come of it. You (on the other hand) will have self-worth.” 5:11:46 AM 5/03/06 “she will be making twice as much money as me for cheating. i was up till 9:00 pm studying and now up at 6:00. that is was makes me mad!” 5:17:07 AM 5/03/06 “Pity her, because one day cheating will not be an option. Everything you do comes back to you and every shortcut this person takes will make the road longer for her somewhere else.” 5:35:01 AM 5/03/06 “do it like in the movies: [enter suspense music] walk up to her...tell her you saw what she did and you want 1/2 of her paycheck for the rest of her life. then watch your back. No really! I was never one who would tell on others, so I wouldn't tell. I know it pisses you off, but like others say, it'll get back to her one way or another. Just know that you are better than her!” 5:48:24 AM 5/03/06 “I had two grown-ups get caught cheating in my class at school. They lost their tuition and were dismissed from the school. They lost $8,000.00 in tuition and got nothing. Everything catches up with you eventually. That girl will either get caught or not know what she needs to know when it counts.” 6:10:23 AM 5/03/06 “Is she hot ?? Tell her she is caught, and you want slave time. A little girl on girl action here Post the photos (j/k)” 6:27:43 AM 5/03/06 “she's not a wetback is she?” 7:03:40 AM 5/03/06 “I think everyone is taking this in the context of "regular" school. It's bad in that context, but isn't this a law enforcement class/exam? It somehow seems worse to be breaking rules on a class that teaches you how to enforce rules. Also, I'd imagine you have an honor code in such a class. That's a toughie.” 7:06:39 AM 5/03/06 “Don't ever sit by her....” 7:08:40 AM 5/03/06 “don't hang out around her cause karma's gonna swing back her way and you don't want to be in the way of that” 7:12:47 AM 5/03/06 “People like that are not worth wasting your time on.” 7:20:00 AM 5/03/06 “Turn her in. You know it's the right thing to do.” 7:28:16 AM 5/03/06 “hey, when you're at home you can give her all the advice you want but when she's on here she's ours ;)” 7:32:33 AM 5/03/06 “A complex situation......is there a chance you may have to work with her some day? In a risky situation in which you or someone else was at risk, could you trust her to perform properly? Knowing the life of you or someone else was in her hands, you should confront her or bring it to the attention of the instructors.” 7:36:59 AM 5/03/06 “Dangit TH, learn to read!” 7:38:46 AM 5/03/06 “He's reads good, it's the comprehension that he needs to work on 8)” 7:56:02 AM 5/03/06 “Maple...this wouldn't happen to be a LAW class would it? All I know is that for 4 years I had to follow the code "A Cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do." I watched commisions disappear one week before graduation. In Graduate school I had a student in a class who was cheating by looking on other papers. I mentioned it to the instructor and for the next tests she got a different test (answeres in a different order etc.) from other people. Personally, if a person is faking it in a class that means they will fake it in life. If the class is "underwater basket weaving" no biggie...if it is law, medical or something that can endanger your tail later....get rid of them.” 8:11:18 AM 5/03/06 “Dangit TH, learn to read!” treebait color me cornfussed...i reread the whole threadwhat'd i miss...isn't tree maple's husband?” 8:12:20 AM 5/03/06 “Your morals (and hers) are more important even than the content of the class. Turn her in, even if your class in on basket weaving. Justice was served for me once, in college. I lent a disk with a computer assignment on it to a girl in my class and specifically told her "do not turn this in as yours, use it only as an example". I made the details of the program obvious that it was mine. She turned it in. Got busted with me standing by the professor's side. I learned a lesson on trust and letting others figuring it out on their own. She got flunked.” 8:19:48 AM 5/03/06 “Treebeard is maple's husband, not treebait.” 8:23:51 AM 5/03/06 “i see...i'm a dork” 8:26:23 AM 5/03/06 “XL - agreed. I had a professor is school who would leave for the entire test. We would talk with him out of the room but it would be "Anyone have a spare erase?" "#4 sucks!" No one would dare do anything out of the ordinary. You can cheat on an engineering exam but it's sort of hard to fake it when you're designing the 7th floor of a building that will hold several hundred people.” 8:28:42 AM 5/03/06 “well i didnt say anything but i think someone elase may have, they brought in another officer to sit in on the tests. problem solved!” 5:54:10 AM 5/04/06 “I watch patterns when I give multiple choice quizzes and tests and collect from seated students - so that I know who was sitting near who. When I notice answer patterns coming in seating clusters, I keep a close eye out and give two versions of the test (often with small word changes like "is" to "is not") - it helps me know who cheats and it helps to discourage people from cheating.” 6:17:43 AM 5/04/06
