“yost run is very scenic.

eddy lick run was one of my favorite sections. deep hemlocks and rhododendron. cool remains of a splash dam. there is a beautiful campsite at the southern end of the trail where it crosses eddy lick run. several stream crossings without bridges. good trout fishing too.”

“I'll bet with the dry weather we are having the streams out there can be easily crossed now. No rain so far in September and not much expected in the forecast. The streams around here are so low algae is starting to grow in them.”

That's an open ended question, but might I suggest the western loop? And bring me the hot chocolate you promised last weekend that I didn't get?

You may be home a little later in the day on Sunday, but the western loop is possible with the cross connector trail as bail out.”

looking at the map, sunday nights campsite should be northish of the cross connector trail..if Pennsy must be out sometime Monday.
Rock run maybe. Or better yet, Cranberry Run. Anyone leaving on sunday would just take the connector out on the way through.

“Rock Run has some campsites, but they are in an open area near a cabin, i believe.

no established campsites to my recollection near cranberry run, although the terrain would permit some.

i can't go, i'll be out to the ANF working on the book.”

that will be a long monday, there's some tough terrain along that section. the descent/ascent of diamond rock hollow is particularly brutal.

might be better to try to push and camp along bogg's run, it's a scenic area in an isolated setting.”

“I'm in, but I gotsta bail Sunday afternoon. So I need to find a bail out point.”

best bet is probably just do the west loop, and use the east branch trail (CKT's cross connector) to bail out and return to the trailhead. the east branch trail is very scenic, passing through the east branch natural area with thick hemlock and spruce along a wetland. once you reach PA 144, turn left and climb uphill to the trailhead.”

There is a mcd's about a mile south of 81 in Enola on 15/11 and there is a commuter parking lot there next to the McD's, good place to leave a car.”

“It looks like the forecast changed and a front will stall in PA. for Friday and Saturday. At this point expect the chance for some showers Friday, Friday night and maybe into Saturday morning. On the bright side it has been so dry for so long we do need the rain.”
